MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2010: General Discussions.

Oh I have an evil plan.

Labor Thanksgiving Day - Wikipedia

Im going to send him an email telling him that Im going to be travelling in the following days but I'd still like to wish him a happy labour thanksgiving day. I'll also tell him that I haven't heard anything from MEXT yet but that I'm very much looking forward to the news.

I'll thank him again for accepting me as a student and express my sincere excitement about studying with him.

Sound good? Hopefully he will spill the beans.

@NeoXtremeX

hello everybody!!
I've just spent an hour reading evry single post here!! too bad that now there is only a few people left =((

I am from Turkey and comparing your experiences to mine, I think our embassy did a very good job through the application process. They posted a schedule on their website waaay before the applications start.. They even had the times written! it was like:

the announcement of the applications to be interviewed: june 18, 1 pm.

so we had a pretty smooth process. To cut the story short, at the end, I was lucky enough to be one of the final 13!!! (we had about 250 applicants!)

I already had my acceptance from Hiroshima University before the application and it was my only choice. But it is kind of sad to see that I seem to be the only one to study on Education area.

If all goes well, I will be studying at Hiroshima Uni - Grad. School of IDEC.

Btw, my embassy also told us that we will get the results on December. I am even planning to make a short trip to Japan to meet my professor and to see around the campus!

hope everybody ends up with good news!!

@mallika
Hi! Congratulations! :D 13 out of 250.. tough competition you have there!

Btw, my embassy also told us that we will get the results on December. I am even planning to make a short trip to Japan to meet my professor and to see around the campus!
hope everybody ends up with good news!!

More and more people from different countries have said that the result is going to be on December.. I start to think that my embassy is not going to disappoint me, lol.

Anyway, best of luck for you! And to all of us :)

Greetings from Bolivia

Hey everyone!

Well it really seems that this thread has come back from the death lol

Anyway, just wanted to share some info about the scholarships that I got from my embassy here in Bolivia:

1) They are advicing us to arrive to Japan with around US$ 2500 this because:
a) The stipend given by MEXT will be delayed about 1 month (until all the clearance has been made and you get an account on a Japanese financial institution)
b) Bolivians are required to pay a US$ 600 fee to enter Japan because migration agreements (I would advice everyone, - more if you live in a developing country and specially in Latin America- if you have to pay this same fee)

2) I've been told that we are getting an "unofficial" confirmation in Dec but the "official" one will be given around Feb-March 2010

Hope every1 is doing great and best wishes to all!!

Greetings from Bolivia!🙂

@NeoXtremeX @nyfa, you guys.... lol... Should I say おちついて? XD

@nyfa & @Rica I'm going to miss my mi goreng and curry as well!

Hmm... I think I'm going to say hello to the supervisors somewhere in December. Well, since Christmas is widely celebrated in Japan, they might tell us some news to spread the Christmas cheer, ne?

Just got a reply from my professor and...

.....

....

..
..

He hasn't heard anything from MEXT yet. Bummer.

Sorry I cant be of any help.

nyfa, I also hope that we would get some good news. I am so tired of waiting, but I hope that would end any time soon.
Good luck!

Ah, this is the information that I got from my Embassy when we passed the interview:
Final decision from MEXT, Tokyo (final confirmation of scholarship status) => by end of January 2010
Notification of university placement => by end of February 2010
Air ticket confirmation (for April departing students only) => by end of March 2010

Hi everyone. Time is really killing. Hope to get the 'unofficial confirmation' soon!!
Btw, is anyone here taking japanese class right now? I am considering to take one intensive class in Malaysia before april. Any good recommendation?

@ekoy,
Your embassy really gave detail informations. Mine only said that they will announce the result sometime on December ;_; And for years (from my seniors), I never heard my embassy giving announcement twice.. Hmmm~

Kay, my friend just called my embassy and he said that the announcement is going to be on JANUARY and then we should just wait and wait.

This sucks :(

So that really means that the announcement will be made in January. Oh nooooooooooo... There is roughly about a month to go! 1 month = 31 days = 744 hours = 44 640 minutes = 2,678,400 seconds @.@ *breathe*

@ekoy
Well, my friend said to the lady who answered his phone, "But it was written on the paper that it's going to be on December". Then the lady said "Please just wait, sir..". And that's pretty much of it. >.<

Blah, my embassy is so unreliable.

@nyfa
As expected for the final announcement in any kind of selection, it will almost always make us wait and wait ...Well let's just hope our Christmas or New year email for our Professor lead to an earlier announcement ^ ^

@arap
Yeah, sucks. I bet embassy is getting many calls now. But it's their own fault to put 'December' on that white paper.
Btw, did you call the embassy too?
