Embassy Recommendation Acquired...

Results in India are out on 21st or so ... embassy has sent emails to all of the successful candidates. I got the recommendation. Now I am sending emails to as many profs as I can to get a LoA... I have sent like 5 till now... will be sending more... Can anyone tell me how long did it take for them to get a response? I am waiting ... Man no doubt this is the hardest step REALLY hard...

Indonesia's result is already out

I'm lucky enough to get recommendation by the embassy, I know there is still one more step to go but I can't help to feel relieve and happy for now. Again and again, Thank you for all your post in this forum, they are really useful for me to get through all of the process.

for those who didn't make it yet this year, if this is really your dream then please don't give up. This year is also my second try, in my first time I failed miserably in document screening

I have some question regarding the next step :
I know it's generally better to chose national university rather than private (I've been told that even in my interview by one of the panelist) but I wonder is it alright to list a private university in university preference form ? because if I'm not mistake I see a list in this forum that there are some people who get accepted in private U

How long they response...hmm in my case some of them reply one/two days after I sent them an email, some of them in one/two weeks and most of them didn't reply. just be patience, spam your email and also make sure you got the same research interest and the Professor is still an active one (not already retired).

@clipvain and others who are not nominated: I hope you keep searching for other ways to pursue your dream or maybe try again next year.

btw, I actually have trouble filling in the new application form from the embassy. I think it is hard to type the data instead of writing by hand. o__O btw, arap or nyfa, what set of documents do you get from embassy? I got 1 acceptance letter form and passing certificate (can be copied), 1 set of submitted application form, and I've just realized that I got 3 set of new application forms but only two attachment forms. I think I should ask the embassy on Monday.

I got 1 letter of acceptance form, 2 attachment form, 3 set of new application form, a passing certificate, and a copy of my old application form. I guess it's the same with you. Well I haven't bother about it yet, my one concern right now is to fill the application form with typewriter.
I already copy the form and try to type it, maybe tonight, and send it to embassy in Monday to be checked first by the embassy staff

If I remember correctly, the lady (who explained all about documents before the test) said that it's okay to be written by hand as long as it is clear enough and won't cause any trouble (like administration stuff) in the future.

Or embassy already stated that we must use a typewriter to fill that up? Cause it's pretty difficult to find any typewriter nowadays..

haha.. unfortunately I don't have any confidence with my handwriting, I got better chance using typewriter, typewriter is hard to found ? hmm I don't know about this...I think you can find it in Gramedia but I don't know in Singapore, I still have the typewriter from my college days

No chance of getting typewriter in Singapore nowadays, lol.

But one thing that I need to confirm is whether it's allowed to fill up the form written by hand. Did you hear the lady said so? Or is it just me? :-/

my field is computer engineering, networking to be specific, for uni, perhaps Tsukuba U, Shizuoka U, and either Waseda/electro-communication/fukuoka U
That's why I'm quite confused whether to put private U into one of my choice, I feel really obliged to because the Professor at Waseda and Fukuoka are nice enough to helped me by giving me advice while I'm drafting my research proposal

Same. Haha. Actually, me and dalmatian's field is also computer engineering. Mine is leaning more towards image processing and pattern recognition .

for uni.. my first choice is Tokyo Uni, and Titech, and last one is Tohoku Uni.

Tsukuba U? Means you might be going to the same uni with dalmatian

I don't know about private uni.. but i know that there is also an Indonesian departing on April 2008 who got Keio Uni eventually. So I guess, it shouldn't be a problem?

Computer field ? don't tell me you had your interview at Wednesday (14/7) also ? because I feel that they gather the participant with the same field at same day ? I knew dalmatian had the same interview date with me .

Oh I think that's true, they gathered all the candidates of the same field in one day.. but I didn't attend the Wednesday one. I asked Mr.Kabul to arrange my interview and test date to be on the same day cause I needed to go back to Singapore asap. I think all candidates that staying abroad like me were all interviewed on the same date..

Btw, where are you staying now? Jakarta?

NeoXtremeX - Yeah I just had my interview, so I will find out some time this week (maybe Wednesday).

I left the interview wondering how I went. I really have no idea! I feel like I did my best, I managed to get all of my points across (bar 1 which didn't come up) and when I think about it I managed to get a lot of little points and bits of information in that I was worried I wouldn't remember!
My interview felt like it was only about 5 minutes, but I think it was more like 20. It did feel short though, but I think that it's because I was able to explain my research very succinctly with a real world example, so they didn't really have to delve too deep into my proposal. I am so grateful for the advice in this forum, I feel like I was really well prepared because of it.

It is normal especially for this period. Their summer holiday already began last week. I suppose you won't get many replies from the professors, as most of them will be going for field trips or something. Things are even worse when you are in mid-August, the O-Bon period. So be prepared to that.

Anyway, keep on sending e-mails to your prospect professors, who knows you might get some replies from them! Good luck!

Hmm...8 emails, When at first I search for Professor to supervised me. I sent a total of 20 emails, and only 6 of them give positive response. So my advice to you is to keep trying and be patience, don't just wait for one Professor to reply your email.

And also may I ask from where you search your Professor Ajay ? and what field you are ?

Well, I am a bit particular about the choice of my universities. I dont want to act, you know, rude, but for me the university where I shall do my work is an extremely important factor. I will prefer to not do it at all rather than do it at a place that is not of my choice.... ok now I am sounding really rude but... anyways you get the idea. Hence I find all the professors who might be interested in my proposal, though as mentioned by someone else, I keep the options open by indicating that I am interested in working on other relevant topics in the professor's research area. I am interested in computer science and engineering in general and in particular next generation networks.

I understand, no it's ok I don't find it rude at all. I don't know if this will help you, but I know some tips from my friends that he had better luck by sending them (the Professors) a fax rather than by email.

I search the contact for my Professor with that websites, by searching the research topic which I want to work on in my master degree. If you haven't tried that websites (which I doubt it) maybe you can find another option for Professor.

Sorry if I can't provide you any other solution
