MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2009: Post Application

well, i'm bringing the amount that they advised us to bring. 180,000yen.
My hostel will cost me 50000yen immediately upon moving in. So the rest would be just nice for the rest of the month.

yesterday's rate wasn't really low, but could be the lowest within this few months. About RM3.75 to 100yen. But the lowest used to be around RM 3 ma.

Anyway, safe journey to those leaving on the 1st week of April. I know those not from Malaysia have a longer way to go but i wish you guys all the best!! I still hope to see you all Anyway, keep in touch.

Thank You clockworkorange! See You there.

I'm taking off!

Wish You all safe flights!

Meet You on the other side! ^^

Oh my god. I can barely sleep. So excited.
Packing my bag was as hard as I had expected. Everytime i'd pack something I'd have to take a break to recooperate over what didn't make the cut. It seems like I'm exaggerating but I really just love my stuff. The art of putting an outfit together is so much harder with only a quarter of your closet

Anyways.... Have a safe trip everyone. I guess I might see some of you guys at the airport hotel or on the shuttle to shugakuin. Yay

>Everyone
Have a nice journey! Do keep us October people update with the news from Japan... See you there in October!

1 long year of anticipation. Now's the time our paths converge in Japan. =)
Lets keep ourselves active in this forum for a while before all of us manage to switch to facebook.
It has been great finally getting to meet forum members and fellow scholars fr m'sia at the send-off ceremony. Hope to see you guys from the other side of the world soon.
Btw, cookie, where are you? were you at the ceremony? everybody's looking for you. Kinda keeping a profile too low, aren't ya? haha

Hehe, I want to meet cookie too. I still remember him well because of that one slip-up he made...

Will be heading to the airport in about 6 hours~ I'm going to stay awake, and then sleep on the plane to adjsut my self to japan time.

safe flight menrui
Hope to see you soon.

Haha... I remember someone sitting at the row of Raymond, kept on asking about Hokkaido... I think it is him... sat next to the girl who gave speech yesterday.

hope 2 c u guys at narita although i won b able to recognise u guys.. just run up to everyone with big big bag and ask r u a monbusho scholar.
by the way u guys group up and have a chat? where?

Bingo!
I just sat next to ooilingfan, there were a number of us from the forum sitting next to each other... so we got a great chat during the speech time (free time)... So of us did meet up with others at the other time, such as during the 8 minute nature's call break and before the ceremony started.

I also got a great chance to talk with quite a number of people from JAGAM and the embassy!!! Got quite some information.

Please wear formal dressing when you go to meet your supervisor the first day.

Pewter or alcoholic drinks, key chains are advisible...
I heard ikan bilis will not be quarantine... if the food are in air-tight packages...

They said they will move to facebook after this... Maybe we should do the same...

oki i doubt anyone is reading this forum right now...but i'm gonna give it a shot

anyone else stuck at the nikko kansai airport hotel for the night??

First post from my dorm!

Anyone else's balcony infested with pigeons?

Hey Nall-ohki,

Hows your dorm? Is is furnished or do you have to do that yourself?
Hows Hokkaido?

Kouki,
i'll probably be on both the forum and facebook. I actually prefer the forum coz i'm retarded when it comes to facebook. Guess i'll have to learn how to use it though.

I'm in the Toyohira International House, room 702.

I didn't get the scholarship. I'm here on my own money.

Let me know, I'll be around this weekend.

Hokkaido is great, Sapporo is great, my dorm is good, but it has a few quirks (we MUST put trash out between 6-8:30am of the day of that trash pickup, the dumpster is LOCKED at other times - what?!).

It's completely furnished, but does not come with things like blankets and pillows. I'm also lacking in food prep. materials. Bought most of them the other day, but still need a frying pan.

Yeah, I'll be studying with my own money unless I can get a scholarship.
Yes, it's a bit expensive.

We're getting SoftBank phones down here - from what I understand, it's about 500 Yen / month, and free calls/text to other people with it, but it might be only available to my group...? I'm not sure.

My electronic dictionary died, so I need to go to Bic Camera or somewhere tomorrow to get a new one. Might take a few hours.

I'll try to get on msn tomorrow morning. It's:

Maybe they just don't want ppl to simply dump stuff in the er..dumpster....

Ah, i read somewhere that some university dorms store electrical appliances that have been left behind by former students and that incoming students can go and get these appliances for free. I guess like everything else it depends on the uni.

I also read that you can go to sales that sell second-hand appliances at a pretty cheap price. At any rate, you guys probably know better where to get all this stuff. Since you all are already there. All the best, ppl!!

>clockworkorange
Maybe we would not be so fortunate to have those appliances... since we are only getting there in October... I think not much goodies will be left at that time...

Don't be disheartened. I'm sure there are people who arrived in October previously, and might be leaving around that time as well.
