I am! Though the school didn't tell anything else except the name of the dorms. They told me that it's the first time their students will be living there, therefore no information is on their website yet.
 
I got the confirmation today! MEXT approved the scholarship for me, but I still need to get official documents and information about flight, visa, etc... Anyway, now it is sure that I am going

I will apply for MEXT soon and I had no idea the appliction window was so close so now I am kind of starting to freak out.
So all the info you have on it will be amazing to give to me please.
So I'll ask the questions.
1) Do they look closely at your high school grades? Cause it says(for undergraduates) to submit the transcript for the past 3 years. My grades are mostly A's and B's but I had few C's. However this year I will be finishing with all A's.

2) Do you mind explaining the exams? Are there specific exams you have to take for the scholarship depending on what you picked as your study? I plan on choosing Social Sciences like Japanese Language and such. What subjects are the exams and how difficult are they and what language are they in? And what was the level of the language that it was in?

3) The interviews, how was that? I know that it depends on the person but, I'm looking for what is talked about in the interview?

Hello, I'll try to help with all I can.

1. My grades weren't too perfect either, but I got in, so I don't think that it has that big of a say. Most of what matters is their own screening - exams, interview, motivation and such. Even more as your grades seem pretty damn great, I believe you shouldn't worry. You wouldn't be able to change anything now either, would you now? Nope, so stop worrying about this, it'll be fine!

2. Social sciences have to take 3 exams: Japanese, English and Mathematics. Latter two are in English, Japanese exam is of course in Japanese. Here are past year exam papers to help you study. I suppose the best thing for you to do now would be to go back this thread to June when everyone started taking them, there are many comments, including my own. But keep in mind that the format of the Math exam is of pre-2010, NOT 2010. They changed it back after that one year.
And one special thing about this year's Japanese exam was that you had to WRITE KANJI, which, as far as I've heard, hadn't happened before.
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by "And what was the level of the language that it was in?" as those were exams prepared by the education board, so it was of a normal comprehensible level XD

3. Once again, go back the thread to June and onwards, everyone shared their experiences, there are a lot of questions written down word by word as we were asked during the interviews.

Just one more question if you do not mind, I read that the budget is 117,000 yen per month for each grantee.
So I'm assuming we are to pay off the rest of the money right?

If your talking about the tutiton, that's covered separately and completely. Otherwise, 117,000 yen is how much you have for living expenses, which is subject to change every year.
 
Thanks! And also, some universities in Japan such as Tokyo University of Foreign Studies have single dorms, couple dorms, and family forms. But my question is, can the family dorms be for family back from home like one's own mother?
Cause it isn't specifically stated whether or not it is strictly for married couples. Thanks ^^
 

I've never seen a Family Dorm that was allowed to be given to a single student who wanted their parents to live with them. In Japan or anywhere else.

I have so many questions! I am so sorry! It's my first time applying and I want everything to go well.
Okay so in the application it says to write the info on your family members.
But, I don't know my dad. He left when I was a kid and my mom doesn't know where he is either sooooo....
Would that interfere with me having my application being considered complete?
 

Contact your embassy or consulate that you're applying too, they'll be able to tell you how to properly fill that part in. If you don't know who to contact, just e-mail/call their general address/line. There's usually at least one person designated to handle this stuff and they should be able to direct you too them.

P.S. Also you might want to check out the 2015 threads. That's the year you're applying for (As in you apply in 2014 for the 2015 year scholarships).

Heya, all I know is that Sakai Joji replied to one girl asking about them with this link: Student Dormitories ﾂ｜ Bunka Gakuen University | Junior College | Graduate School saying that we'll be living in Kodaira halls and our rent will be divided into monthly payments.

I wrote a letter asking for more information, but it has been 2 weeks now and no reply. The lack of information and replies is getting on my nerves, especially when there's just a week left until departure.
 
Hi All,

Can anyone please guide me with the following:

1) I have not taken for my final year project so i have problem in filling up for the "research proposal" and "field of study specialized in the past". Can anyone tell me what should i do because i don't want to wait until the next application which will be at next year. For final year project, i'm going to take it on my next semester. Will it still be eligible for me to apply for this scholarship without any final year project been done and if can, how should i fill for these two sections? Please kindly guide me on this.

I'm sorry if i'm demanding much but i really need your help in this since the deadline is around the corner and i don't wish to screw this up either. Thanks in advanced. ^^
 

I got a reply this morning. He send me this exact link BUT also made this note:

"Please note that the dorm room fee for our scholarship students, like you, is specially arranged, and it is paid monthly."

I was getting disappointed because the students from TUFS and Handai are going to pay around 25k per month but hopefully the rent will be cheap for us too! ♥
 
Hello, I may be crazy but I thought I read somewhere in the application documents that you had to send in art if you wanted an art major or design major.
I can't find it anymore and I am just wondering if I was just seeing things.
