Hi vashish, I am also from India. Are you research applicant or undergraduate?? I am for research. I had called the embassy last week and they informed me the results are not yet declared for India. They will inform us once get the results.....Do let me know if you get any info about the results......

Dear Samik, thanks for replying........I have applied for research student in AE... I hope we both will hear good results from embassy soon....so keep patience (sayam)..we are going to learn a lot there .... and I think Embassy in India used to respond on Friday..... and this weekend general elections are there in Japan .... that might be the reason we would get late results in comparison to last year ... may be by last week of dec or 1st week of jan............. I need to make some decisions abt my career and life tht's why I am eager to hear abt my results as soon as possible.....

I'm from Hong Kong, and I applied for the MEXT scholarship 2013 (undergrad.).
I got a phone call few days ago, and was informed that my application has been accepted!!
For those who haven't receive notification, gd luck XD

Hello, I don't know if anyone can help me, based on previous years. But today I got an e-mail from the embassy from where I'm applying (it's actually a consulate, here in Brazil) and it's saying I passed the second screening, apparently. It also says I have around 80% chance of getting the scholarship because there's still this final phase when MEXT talk to the Universities directly. The e-mail just got me so nervous, 80% chances is not that high. I mean, I got 2 LOA, one from Osaka Uni and one from Keio, and now I'm wondering here if my chances are better since there are 2 professors who have actually written good things about me and are willing to accept me. Does anyone know?

Hi people! Got the news that I passed the second screening. Just confused whether it's a go or a no since the letter the embassy emailed specifically says that I still need to wait until Feb 2013 for the final notification. Hope everything will be fine. Congratulations to those who passed!

The letter means that you are a recipient of the fellowship. But, your placement at your choice of university is not yet finalized. MEXT will apply on behalf of you to univeristity of your choice. After your university accepts your studentship, you will get the final confirmation. According to my information, 99% of the people who qualifies the 2nd screening gets the fellowship......But I will keep my fingers crossed until I receive the confirmation letter
I also got the same letter from the embassy.....BTW, what subject you are applying for?

Thanks Samik! I really hope we'll all go to Japan come April. Congratulations to you! I'll take up Linguistics either at Sophia U in Tokyo, Ritsumeikan U in Kyoto , or Kobe U in Kobe. How about you?

Congratulations to everyone who's in so far. I'm embassy recommendation, research student, and I've gotten my letter of acceptance from my university. Still waiting for the second screening results and don't really know my chances. Anyone know/in the same situation? Thanks!

I know someone who already got an informal confirmation package from Todai-Komaba last December. The official confirmation should come from the Embassy.
