Hi everyone! From the time you submitted your application, how many days do you have to wait to know if you passed and you are to take the exams and interview? Hmmm.. :?

you don't need to hurry since your deadline is June 1st, but yeah, i guess you'll feel better when handed application in btw, in application form you have to paste your photo with your name on reverse. did you paste it? i mean, if you paste, then what's the point of writing your name on reverse. and where you put the third photo?

Lol I can actually focus on studying now instead of constantly reading my application

Yea I pasted it on with the information on the back, the ink was smudging a bit too haha . I think they mainly want it on the extra picture/ I just inserted the 3rd photo into a small envelope and included it with my application.

How much more of the application do you have left?

hiya all, this year is my first time applying MEXT.

I'll be taking the postgraduate English & Japanese test by next week- 22nd of May (I'm Malaysian btw)...

Just that... I am worried abt the Japanese test after seeing the 2010 sample test in study japan go... does the test is as per sample given or there'll be a grammar & vocab section too?

MieHanz, I think last year Japanese test was like in 2009, 2008, 2007. I wish it is like that this year too

I found some amazing math courses online that cover pretty much everything on the syllabus, lemme know if you want the link to that.
But honestly I'm just trying to cram in as much kana and vocab as possible so I can get at-least a few points on the Japanese portion of the exam lol.
I think greater emphasis is placed on whether you can convince the interviewer during the interview that your committed to finished the full term of the scholarship.

Hi, all. I am applying for MEXT scholarship this year for Doctoral Studies. I am very worried about the Japanese Language Test. The embassy says that marks in Japanese Language Test wouldn't be counted. But still I'm worried, since I don't know Japanese. How about u guys? :?

Anyone else here from India, applying?

BTW, I am a student of Physics......

samik, you should trust your embassy because Japanese test's marks are not counted if you don't know Japanese. They take better result of English and Japanese test, so if you don't know Japanese, they'll take English mark.

guys undergrads, in application form there is this question "What kind of field are you planning to study in Japan?" how are we supposed to answer it? I mean, do we have to write only one word or something more? Embassy said that in this question we are free to use imagination and that didn't really help me.

hi catelyn, well the guidelines says that you must have good academic results but it doesn't say how good they have to be. I believe they check your knowledge in mext exams and if you do well with them, i think there wouldn't be any problems and you can always ask embassy

I'll update you on the exams after i take them, YoyoC. i am confident in my English, Maths and Physics but not my Chemistry and Japanese as I only got A- for Chemistry for my finals and my Japanese level is only at N3 JLPT. T.T

i thought the exam is 20th, which is tomorrow.
it says so in the letter and email...
