Hello everyone reading this post👋👋
I am writing this post while in a dilema and I really need minds to figure out with me. Recently I was awarded the 2024 MEXT scholarship under teacher training that requires international teachers to do research in Japanese universities for only 18 months then return back to their country and implement their findings in their home countries.

The scholarship comes with a pretty good allowance of 144K. Back in my country I hold a permanent job in the teaching industry that the government pays relatively low, a basic salary of 36K. I have tried getting a study leave but the employer has rejected. The working conditions back in my country are not so good. I am tempted to desert duties and take up the scholarship offer but now I am worried of my income after the completion of my scholarship.

How would you advise me? Should I give up on my job and take up thr scholarship? Will I get a job in Japan after completing my scholarship. Atleast I would have a source of income. If I stay back in my country I will literally raise that scholarship allowance after 7 years. That is, what I earn will take 7 yrs to equal the scholarship allowance in 18 months.

I am an aggressive person when it comes to looking for opportunities, I can take up job offer without minding class or status. What can you advise me? Should I go for the scholarship or I remain in my country?

It's very difficult to say but I feel like you would regret it if you don't take this opportunity. However I don't think you can count on finding employment in Japan after the research opportunity is complete. As you said, the whole point of the program is for you to take the know-how back to your own country. So you should take into consideration the chances of being able to find a decent job after you return.

It's really complicated dilemma, and it's hard to suggest you something
I think I'd take a scholarship.
