News M6.3 quake hits Ishikawa

A strong earthquake hit Ishikawa Prefecture on the Sea of Japan side of central Japan at around 2:42 p.m. on May 5, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. The earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 measured an upper 6 on the 7-point Japanese intensity scale in the Ishikawa Prefecture town of Suzu, and an upper five in the town of Noto in the same prefecture. It hit 4 in the neighboring prefectures of Toyama and Fukui. A series of aftershocks were recorded in Ishikawa Prefecture following the quake. [...] The epicenter of the tremor, which struck at a depth of about 10 kilometers, was located in the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture.
