did a moderator delete one of my posts? i'm pretty sure that i posted "iiarawasu" as a word in response to...*looks it up*...jidai....i hope i didn't do anything to anger the mods...

hey Cyn, glad to see you made it to the jref forum! shiritori is a great way to build your vocab!

i just noticed on your last post you put "こんいち わ". just so you know for future references, it's actually "こんにちは". i made the same mistake at first. what happens is the romaji is written often "konichiwa" instead of "konnichiwa" or "kon'nichiwa". still, in the hiragana, "ha" is used instead of "wa", but the reason for this is that one is using the particle "wa," which is written with the hiragana character "ha". like in the example: watashi no namae wa biru desu. (my name is bill.) after "namae", "wa" appears, but in hiragana, it would appear as "ha". if one were to translate "konnichiwa" into english, it would mean literally "this day [topic marker particle]". actually, now that i look back, i think you put this in your signature, not just the post. anyway, yes, as someone stated before in this thread, you learn from your mistakes, and really that is the best way! you'll remember learning from mistakes a lot better than getting it right all the time! anyway, yes, good luck w/ your studies, and i look forward to seeing you around on the forum in the future! じゃ、また!

p.s. i just noticed another thing--the word for actress/actor is "yakusha" not "yakusho"--that's probably why you kept getting the wrong kanji... =D

The particle "は" can be translated as "as for". Another particle yo might want to look out for is "へ", pronunced "e" when used as a particle.
To get こんいちは from my IME, I would type "konnnitiha" or "konnnichiha". You have to type the letter "n" twice to get "ん" and then "ni" to get に, meaning that there are three "n"s in a row.

I don't think there have been any messages deleted from this thread. If any were, it was most likely due to double posting. Anyway, I looked back a few pages and didn't see any, and you don't have anything to worry about.
