Konnichiwa. Watashi wa Pat-desu. Amerika-jin desu.
Hey everyone, Im pat, 14 years old(I am new here)Ive been trying to learn Japanese, but so far cannot have any luck finding stuff on the web. DO you know any good Japanese websites?

If you are serious about learning japanese get a text book and find someone to talk to in japanese.

The only websites I'm using are online dictionaries. You might want to have a look at:

Yeah, it's better if you learn from a textbook.

How about Essential Japanese. It's a Berlitz language book.

I never bought a book but when I started learning Japanese I made flash cards of the Hiragana and Katakana characters and now I use them as much as possible just to keep my mind "fresh" with them and remember them well. I now am learning as many words as I can. I just try to find things on the internet and memorize them and use them as much as I can as well. Try to not use romaji as soon as possible. I write lots of things in Japanese(me being a high school student I definitely have time to practice) when I have free time. I have only been studying for a month and now I know all Kana.
Take it for what it's worth.... it helped me

If you're a guy, you shouldn't be saying watashi. I mean, you CAN, but watashi is a feminine way.

Boku = Standard "I"

Ore = Boastful/egotistical. And, you don't have to be a jerk to say ore. If you're proud or boastful, you can use it.

watashi is fine, especially when introducing yourself to a bunch of strangers on an internet forum.

I thought "Atashi" was the femenine form? *Confusion* oh, well. I could be wrong.

Anyway, I thought that Ore was used to indicate confusion in some situations, similarly to "Oro", "Ara", and "Ano" when used alone. And when used to mean "I", it was simply informal. You know, strangers/superiors get formal cases while friends/lower-ranking persons get informal? I dunno. I guess it's just something I haven't learned yet.

All of the japanese I've learned is audial. I simply look at subtitled movies/anime, look for commonalities, and then I derive a pattern. It's a slow process, but I've learned some pretty useful grammar rules (I think. I could be wrong. lol)

Don't take the internet learning route. You need hours of practice with someone in person, and it's easier to learn to write with a personal tutor.
