Learning Japanese via msn/e-mail?

I logged on the server real quick after setting things up. Seems okay to me.

Well... lets start with some easy or most used words
 
Words you can practise alone, you needn't learn words in a group. ECS you seem to be the most pro among us when it comes to Japanese language, what are we supposed to do?
 
Hmm, well, the best thing would be to really try to get some Japanese natives from the Learning English forum in this whole thing.

Edit: Then again, that's still 6:00 AM for them. Hmm... I don't think we're gonna be able to find a time that's good for all of us... let's just try one without them for now. If we really wanted to include them, one country would have to make a sacrifice and be up early in the wee hours of the morning. If it gets to that point, I volunteer to make that sacrifice.

But if we can't do that, then I guess the best thing to do would be to have an all-Japanese conversation. Kinda like a get-to-know-each-other conversation. And we can help someone (in English) if they don't know a word or grammatical point needed for what they want to say, if they make a major oopsie, that sort of thing. One tip, though. If you don't know how to say something, try looking for another way to word it.

May not be the absolute best way to practice speaking without a native around, but considering how hard it is to get ANY speaking practice, this will do just fine.
 
we could get a native speaker,we'd just have to start around 2 in the afternoon.But that in itself poses a problem.

Well on weekends we have more free time, so it overlaps more, now we need to find some natives, and see if it overlaps with us, and see where does it overlap. So your time zone is either GMT-6 or -7 ours is GMT+1 and Tokyo time is GMT+9... wow this might be difficult.

So lets say, you are available from say... umm you probably wake up around umm 8 or 9 GMT-6 or -7, thats around 16-17 for us, and 24-01 for Japanese people, thats a bit late for them, if we go ahead like 5 hours, its still too early for them, but its late for Europeans as well, but if you can wake up early (only on weekends of course we can make it i believe, i mean i would gladly sacrifice myself and wake up early lol, but you see we are stuck inbetween lol If you have better suggestion post them hehe.
 
Actually, I'm GMT-5, and wake up around 7-8 on weekends. That's 13-14 for you, 22-23 for Japan... a bit better, but still room for improvement. At that point, though, not much is needed to bring it to acceptable levels. I can be on around 5 or 6, and that should work just fine for Europe and Japan. I dunno if Jmwintenn would be willing to get up at that time, though (that'd be 4 or 5 for you.)
 
actually,it'd be better for me at that time since my parents will be asleep. The computer is in the dining room and they don't like me practicing my speaking while they're up
 
The original time is okay as well, since Undrentide offered us her help(we all thank her for that), she probably can't attend the morning ones, but we could practise on those days too. Well what do you think?
 
Okay i had this weird idea for quite a while, basically i happen to have a nice, relatively fast internet storage, so i could make a site with learning material for those that are studying with us, but still more or less private, so we could put stuff there, not too much, not hundreds of megs, but still it might be nice to have a site, what do you think?

Not vocabulary, stuff that is... how to say it rare... and *cough* copyrighted *cough* as i have a load of stuff i'd love to share.

Well im kinda forced to do html, i would do php... but the phpmyadmin interface is pretty much down, i already abandoned that site for roughly a year. But thank you for your offer, i'll try to do it, if it'll turn out to be ugly as hell i suppose you could handle it, since i don't know much about html coding.

I tried TeamSpeak, it seemed to work (though I'm not so sure about my microphone, maybe I'll look for a new headset this afternoon.)
I would like to know exactly what time I should log in, though.

Current local time in (UTC/GMT)
I checked WorldTimeServer, and because both US and European countries are still in summertime, the time difference seems to be:

Tennessee (western): GMT -4
Tennessee (eastern), New York : GMT -3
Hungary, Netherlands : GMT +2
Japan : GMT +9

But reading through the discussion in this thread, you are talking about GMT with summertime as well...? I'm not sure if your GMT 22:00 means Saturday 7 am or 8 am in Japan.

Anyway, I'm in Japan and here we are
7 hours ahead of Hungary
12 hours ahead of New York.

Could one of you specify what time I should log in?
 
I'm not sure we ever decided a time,I was going to ask if I should stay up for four more hours till 4am or go to bed?
 
GMT 22:00 is 5 PM for me, and it should be 7 AM for you.

Sorry about making you get up so early.

☝ I'm an hour behind you,so there's no way that 5pm for you means 7am for me.

I was already up,I normally stay up till 2am.

If someone can tell me when we're starting I'll make an appearance
