I was on here ages ago and remember reading a post about a guy who was in the military and he reccomended a book that was intended for children but was a good way to start learning japanese for adults. Anybody remember the post or the name of the book?

Sorry, I do not remember such a book.

This is just my two yen worth, but I have found that books written for Japanese children are difficult for foreigners learning Japanese, especially beginning students. Children's books have a lot of idiomatic expressions. I have found that sticking to books written for beginning students causes less frustration.
