Learning Japanese during free time: the possibilities?

Hello everyone!

Allright, let me apologise for two things in advance.

First one: sorry for the bad writing/spelling. I'm typing this from tapatalk, so it's kind of hard to check for grammatical errors/typos.

Second one: aorry if this subject has been brought up before. I would like to search the forum, but Tapatalk doesn't seem to have a search function. It.can also be that I'm having a "retardmoment" and am simply overlooking it.

So my question: are there any sites/books/androidapps that I can use to learn Japanese during my free time?

As for the books, I live in Belgium, so some books may be unavailable to me.

Or maybe there's another way to learn Japanese during free time?

Oh, before I forget, I can't follow RL lessons, due to school.

Thats a link to a thread with lots of useful websites. I dont think Tae Kim or Kanji-a-day are on there, google them both quite useful.

As for books yes you do definately need them, in my opinion they should be your first source for learning. Books are generally written by professionals who actually understand Japanese so are usually reliable in comparison to websites which can be written by any old muppet.

With regard to books if you cant get them in Belgium I would order them from overseas unless you really cant. A decent textbook will help you greatly, the knowledge you can aquire is worth the price and will be a million times cheaper than fancy software or real life lessons.

How are you with studies by the way? Have you been learning long?

For applications I would go for
Kotoba (not available for andriot ) and flashcard app ( you can download heaps of flashcard sets from quizlet.com )
