Seven things that Imperial Japan plundered from Korea.
and they insist" Seven crimes that Japan committed"

1) korean king
2)Sovereignty
3)Land
4)Resource
5)Language
6)Life
7)name

i think it is a lie......
for Example , Japan forced them a Japanese name.
why did Japan need to force changing their name?

recentry, "*** was foced" is so popular in this forum..
and, these are also quite different from the fact.

How do you learn it in the foreign country?

Just curious

What's your source on this myth? and what does *** means?

What's your source on this myth? and what does *** means?

something forced by japan

What's your source on this myth?
so you were taught like that.
for example, japan forced to change their name

I really have no idea what you are talking about, sorry.

Where did you hear this MYTH? and if it is a myth why even care about it.

It's easy to make a myth to bash a country, I can do that as well. You think everything is a lie, if it's bad about Japan... Do you ever agree that Japan did something bad in the war? I think you are old enough to think realistically, and stop making Japan looks "ow so innocent". IMHO.

Good luck with the thread, though.

Where did you hear this MYTH?

I read a korean history textbook in Japanese

It's easy to make a myth to bash a country, I can do that as well. You think everything is a lie, if it's bad about Japan...
if there is an opposite I want to hear like Okinawa problem.

Do you ever agree that Japan did something bad in the war?

of course, however Japan did not fight against them at war

I think you are old enough to think realistically, and stop making Japan looks "ow so innocent". IMHO
.

i am talking it realistically from doccuments IMHO

I read a korean history textbook in Japanese

So I am asking you, what's your source! What's the name of this Korean History Textbook in Japanese. Maybe a link to the authors website, or a amazon link, etc.

of course, however Japan did not fight against them at war
Who is them?

.

i am talking it a realistically from doccuments IMHO
This are only Japanese documents or international documents?

During the Japanese occupation of Korea, Japanese was declared the official language of Korea, and the use of Korean was officially banned so much so that Koreans were forced to change their family names to Japanese ones

this is the easiest one
National Virtual Translation Center | Federal Bureau of Investigation

1st .about japan forced to change their name....
is it true? I doubt it

This are only Japanese documents or international documents?

If there is an international documents at that time
please show me. then i change my mind

in 1940 Japanese Gervernment anounced korean ppl " if you want Japanese name, this time is a big chance to have a Japanese name"
Because the Korean's demand of that was numerous.

here is a docummnets at that time of 1939 about political movement in Korea

most korean was not interested in Politics. however korean influential persons wanted the Japapanese name and volunteer soldier system in korea.......

you can find it here( japan center for asian histrical records)
アジア歴史資料センター

it was not a fact that Japan foced to change their name.

the korean ppl who imigrated in manchuria demanded and supplicated to have a Japanese name.
Manuchuria is mother land where manchu ppl established Qing Dynasty
during Qing dynasty, Han chinese was prohibited to enter Manchuria
in 19c, it was lifted a ban for Han chinese. then Korean ppl also settled in Manshuria

there were 1,500,000 korean
However, they were like slaves of han chinese
The only saving was to have become the Japanese people for them.

then they demanded to have a Japanese name.
It was Korean that it was pleased most because a Japanese army comes to
manchuria

[/QUOTE]

then This picture was drawn by Chinese at that time
http://www.mf10.com/dreamtale/gyakusatsu.jpg

same things were happened in Pows of south Asia
that is why many Korean B and C criminals were excuted

*Japan forced them not to speak Korean language
*the use of Korean was officially banned so much

it was the Japan that protected korean language.

are there any international documents until then

Well, you may claim it is a myth, but the international community and historian agree it is not a myth.

It merely takes a search in Wikipedia to see how the general population agrees that NONE of thsoe listed above are myth.

Search "Korea under Japanese rule" in Wikipedia

Assassination of Empress Myeongseong

In 1895, Empress Myeongseong was assassinated by Japanese agents. The Japanese minister to Korea, Miura Goro orchestrated the plot against her. A group of Japanese agents entered the Imperial palace in Seoul, which was under Japanese guard,[4] and Empress Myeongseong (referred to as "Queen Min" by the Japanese) was killed and her body desecrated in the North wing of the palace.[5] The empress had attempted to counter Japanese interference in Korea and was considering turning to Russia or China for support.

Donghak Revolution and protests for democracy

The outbreak of the Donghak Peasant Revolution in 1894 changed Japanese policy toward Korea. Korea had negotiated with Russia to counterbalance Japan's growing influence. So Chae-pil and Protestant missionaries introduced Western political thought to Korea. Protesters took to the streets, demanding democratic reforms and an end to Japanese and Russian influence in Korean affairs. The Korean government asked for Chinese assistance in ending the revolt. The Meiji leaders decided upon military intervention to challenge China.

Colonization efforts and land confiscation

The Japanese seizure of Korean land first became widespread during the time the Korea was a Japanese colony. The Imperial Japanese government handed out large tracts of Korean land at subsidized costs to any Japanese family willing to settle in Korea as part of a larger effort at colonization. Former Korean landowners as well as agricultural workers became internally displaced, having lost their entitlements to labor and property almost overnight. Those who did labor under Japanese landlords did so under significantly higher taxes. As such, Korean farmers suffered under the high degree of their labor, which was required in order to supply rice to an increasingly urbanized Japan.

Forced name changes

In 1911 a proclamation, ツ"Case Concerning the Changing of Korean Namesツ" (窶卍ゥ窶朗ツ人ニ知ツ青ゥ窶督シ窶ーテシツ湘姑男ナ?テ免湛ニ停?ケナ陳? was issued barring ethnic Koreans from taking Japanese names and to retroactively revert the names of Koreans that had already registered under Japanese names back to the original Korean ones[23] in an attempt to better segregate individuals of Korean and Japanese ancestry.[23] By 1939, however, the focus had shifted towards colonial assimilation, and Imperial Decree 19 on Korean Civil Affairs (조선민사령; ツ"窶凖ゥ窶氾?9窶卍ゥ窶朗窶督ッナス窶凪?氾淞")[24] went into effect, whereby all Koreans had to surrender their Korean family name and adopt Japanese surnames. A country study conducted by the Library of Congress states that ツ"Korean culture was quashed, and Koreans were required to speak Japanese and take Japanese names.ツ"[25][26][27] This forced name change, called Changssi-gaemyong (창씨개명; 窶蕨ナスツ≫?ーテシ窶督シ), was part of Japan's assimilation policy[28][29][30] that, according to the University of Tokyo, ツ"not only robbed the victims of their identity, but also served to destroy the traditional Korean family system.ツ"[20]

University of Tokyo agrees that name changes were forced. And as the wikipedia shows, people who did not sell the land to the japaense at dirt cheap prices were faced higher tax-rates.

Sorry. Your mumbling does not cause the fact to be myths. Facts are facts.

Caster51,

Yes it was the Empress of Korea ( not a king) who was assasinated. I remember it as a very sad story.
What makes Korea so complicated, is that there are two Korea's today, North and South.
To me it is even more complicated, because long after WWII I learnt that quite some camp-guardians who had been extremely cruel towards their Dutch prisoners were not always Japanese but also Koreans.
When I mentioned that the names were Japanese, I was told that the Korean names had received Japanese names. Not so strange really.
The Chinese living in Indonesia have also changed their names into Indonesian names. So I understand that those things happen.

But all the rest I know about the two Korea's I learnt through reading books, magazines and surfing over Internet.

junjunforever san.
An interesting opinion,
You affirm a claim of caster51 unintentionally.

By your remark,
Their delusion that a Korean connected pieces of a historical fact was proved.

Why,
In a palace,
Was a foreigner able to kill the empress?
It is doubt.
Do not you think so?

because they attacked it? They brougt guns and soliders, marched in, and killed the empress. Actually from what i know, they actually went into the palace (which is more like an oversized mansion without any real defensive walls or structures, just some guards), kidnapped her and killed her outside the palace and burned her body (after pouring gasoline i think to destroy any evidence). I dont even think there is a single photo of her either existing right now.

And i dotn know how i claim caster51's opinion. I can say the dinosaurs never existed, and call it a myth, but if somebody shows me how all the archeologist agree with dinosaurs, it does not prove that it was a myth. It proves that myths are myths and facts are facts.

One thing that interests me, is that dont you think you find it funny japanese are the only ones denying their past history? Russia destroyed stalin statutes. Nazism is banned in Germany, and despite the worldwide pressure and acknowledgement, japan is the only country who are still criticized for their world war II actions.

this is very true. they had the same problems in korea. korean prison officers appointed by the japanese, were known to show no mercy to their kinmen.

Part of the reason is because Japanese people only chose the cruel people as guardians. And as shown from the slavery era where black people belted blacks to get the work done, those guys will only choose the psychos who beat others senseless as the guards.

excellent excuse

excellent excuse

yes. its only an excuse. Koreans and all koreans are sorry to the people they have caused their pain. Many koreans are especially sorry for what happened in the Vietnam war, for the Korean army's 's cruelty.

However, for one cruel korean prison guards, there were ten japanese imperialist soliders raping the dutch, indonesian, chinese and koreans. So although Koreans would give apology to people who have suffered, Japanese people, espeically the ones who deny any war crime like you, shouldnt be the one asking for apology.

at first, there is no question about their name that Japan forced was not true

Is it ok that is Myth.

so was Korean language.

then .I go for about Land...

Here's some validation of this issue. Koreans were infamous for their unnecessary cruelty and sadistic treatment of prisoners, even more than the Japanese.

at first, the most impotant korean character is 恨(han, resentment)
most Japanese Know it.
as for foced comfot women, it was impossible for Japanese to do like that even at that time in korean society
Han (cultural) - Wikipedia

it also makes their enegy ... we can see it in sports, competition, education so on. and Hwabyeong . it exsists in everything of korean society
Hwabyeong - Wikipedia.

here is an official documment of notification that Japanese soldier must treat them like this.

1)Give them the red pepper as much as desired
2)Do not beat them at any time. they tend to revange.
3)Teach the distinction between the bucket for meal and the bucket for the
cleaning.
4)Two Japanese soldiers must take side because they become panics easily under a dangerous situation.

3500 Koreans were worked for guards of POws.
and they did brutality acts against white ppl.
Japanese army seems to have been also embarrassed with this.

However white ppl is an expert of retribution
then many korean guards were excuted as B $ C criminals.

off course. it was japanese responsiblity that Japan did not educated them well.most of guards were not soldiers. They were civilians who had been employed to the Japanese army.

But all the rest I know about the two Korea's I learnt through reading books, magazines and surfing over Internet

there was famous Korean lieutenant general who did not change his name.
in school album , doccument and newspaper at that time. there were so many korean name.

It is not desirable for Japan because we can not distinguish like today's problem.

I am a Zapanese.

Who are the members of the Vietnam war veterans strongly opposing the apology? Aren't they Koreans?

some koreans i believe. But historians will never deny what happened in Vietnam as myth, like the japanese historians purchasing a ad in WP who were dedicated to bend the truth.

Isolated denials of war crimes in japan really does not annoy the neighbors. It is the historians, politicians, the prime ministers who deny the war crimes that pisses off the rest of the world, chinese, philippinos, koreans, australians, and even americans believe japan has no sense of self-dignity and are shameless in their portrayal of the war.

Ok, what do you explain many Korean historians or critics appologised to your grandma?
And what was the quick denial of the former president Kim, "it was not the apology to Vietnam" after he was asked by your media?

You are talking about the confort women. Why don't you ask the US for your favorite apology and compensation for the military brothel in your country?
I think it was great to outlaw the prostitution in your country, but it is not good to export it to other countries. Just count how many illegal or I should say undocumented Korean immigrants in the US. Your country is not a regional player anymore.

This thread is just unbelievable. If anything highlights the issues with Japanese and WWII - this would be it.
