Hi everyone.

I'm a 16-year-old Portuguese boy that for about a year and half has discovered an interest in Japan and its culture as well as a huge will to learn the Japanese language.

I'll try to participate and help the community as far as I'm able to do so, so don't worry.

Cheers from Portugal!

Boa tarde, Torga kun. Welcome to the forum. Tudo bem?
Eu sou Hirashin, japonês. Am I saying it right:

Your picture is from Pokemon, right? Do you like the anime? What Japanese anime have you watched so far?

Are Japanese anime popular in your country?

Até logo. ( Is thsi too formal?)

Hirashin

Hi there, Hirashin.

When introducing yourself in Portuguese, you say: "Eu chamo-me Hirashin e sou japonês." ("My name is Hirashin and I'm Japanese.")

Yes, my avatar is from good ol' Pikachu. I've liked the anime and the games since Pokémon Red and Blue Versions were launched in 1999.

For now, I haven't watched completely any anime but I have watched a lot of episodes of Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist and a few of Basilisk, Love Hina, Chobits and Lupin III. I'll also watch Bleach, Saiyuki, Gunslinger Girl, Black Lagoon and Death Note in the future. I've also liked some classics such as Doraemon, Dragon Ball and a few others.

Anime is popular in my country since a few years ago and its popularity is increasing. By the way, and don't take me wrong on this one, but all anime (and manga) are Japanese. For example, you may find American cartoons that might share similarities with anime but they're still cartoons.

"Até logo." ("See ya." or "See ya later.") is not formal but between young people, we usually say "Fica bem.", which is an expression used to wish good luck and be away from problems yet replacing at the same time the expression used to wave good bye and see people later by adding this meaning to it.

Hope this helped and thank you for your thoughtful welcome.

If you have any more doubts, don't mind asking.

Hey Torga.

It is pretty rare to see another Portuguese around on this forums. I hope you'll come to enjoy the community as much as I do and stick around.

Yes, in fact I've noticed that there are few Portuguese users around these parts. And don't worry about that because from the far I've seen, this is a good community and deserves good people to be part of it so enjoyment and a long stay are guaranteed.
