I won't bother preaching here, but do a search for "tattoo" on this forum and you'll see that you aren't alone in wanting a tattoo you can't read. Also check out www.hanzismatter.com for examples of when this goes wrong.

so why translate something you want a tattoo of into Japanese? Why not get some ink that has actual meaning?

I don't like tattoo's, but you might be right, although its quite pointless when you don't speak the language that has its mark on you for life.
I wouldn't have it tattoed on me until I reach complete fluency, simply because I'd feel ashamed every single time a person asks me whether I speak Japanese, and I'd have to tell him every time that im nothing but a mere student.

As someone who considered a kanji tattoo long ago, before I started studying Japanese, I am infinitely relieved that I decided not to get it. The more I learn, the less it seems like a good idea. Especially when trying to translate from an English sentence, so much is lost in translation, what you end with is more like an approximation. In which case, you might as well just go to JDIC and look up some words and use those. It seems that for people who opt to get kanji tattoos are more concerned with the original meaning than the meaning of the characters they get inked onto their skin. Kind of a "if it has meaning to me, who cares what anyone else things" attitude. It's hard to say that with everyone laughing at you for having nonsense written on you for life.
If you really want a kanji tattoo, I'd suggest getting a 四文字熟語 (yonmoji jukugo), a 4 character phrase that usually has quite a bit of meaning. Some examples with "evil" in them are:
破邪顕正 【はじゃけんしょう】
{Buddh} (sense of) crushing evil and spreading the truth
善悪不二 【ぜんあくふに】 (exp) {Buddh} Good and evil are but two faces of the same coin

Did you not read my last post? I wasn't trying to dissuade you from getting a kanji tattoo, but too many people think that they can just take any phrase and translate it into a kanji tattoo and not look like like a fool. You asked for advice and you got it, I recommend using a real Japanese saying that has meaning to you instead of trying to make something up that will ultimately translate into nonsense.

All I have to say is, kanji tatoos (can) cause many problems. I'm not even going to go into "rant" mode.
Also, not that many people will be able to interpret "the evil in me" well, it only makes a bit of sense. It sounds more like an unfinished statement, but oh well....
