Kanji Flashcards?

I want to make kanji flashcards to study from... Buyt I'm not sure how it would be done...?

This si what I'm thinking... But I don't know if this would be a good:

(example kanji: 日)

Front:

日 [STROKE ORDER]

1. 日 = Sun
2. 日本 = Japan
3. 日曜日 = Sunday
4. 休日 = Holiday
5. 二日 = 2nd (of the month)

Back:

NICHI, JITSU, hi, ka

1. Hi
2. Nihon/Nippon
3. Nichiyoubi
4. Kyuujitsu
5. Futsuka

OK.. I was wonderig if this would bea good meathd of studying?

I'll explain what the parts of the flashcards are...

on the front, it shows the kanji, then the stroke order of the kanji. then, it has some (compound) words with the English translation, BUT no romaji, or furigana.

on the back, there are the on reading in capitals, and the kun readings in lowercase. then, it has the (compound) words again, but this time it just has the romaji (or furigana)

I think this might be an ok method... but I don't know...

You'd look at the front, and guess the on and kun ways of saying then guess how to say the compound words...

or

You'd look at the back, guess what the kanji is and try to write it on a seperate peice of paper, (maybe write the stroke order, too) and then guess the meaning of the compound words

Is this an OK method?

I wanted to hear what other people thought before I start using up my flashcards!

I like it ,but make sure you have everything written in kanji or hiragana, no romaji.

I can't because the people who will be helping me study at times most liekly won't be able to read the hiragan so they won't know if im right or not. But it's OK, I alrerady know hiragana

BTW you left out "日" "Bi".

You could just buy a set of flashcards from WhiteRabbitPress (best on the market, if you ask me), they have both kana flashcards, a set with 4&3kyuu, a set with 2kyuu and the 1kyuu set is in the works and should be released later this year. They're in the shape of regular playing cards, complete with a UV varnish and rounded corners for added durability.

Here are two photos (front and back) of the card for 日 that you mentioned in the main post.

You just can't make flash cards of this quality yourself, I highly recommend buying these instead.
