Wow !! Tsuyoiko chan, my dear dancing partner on Mars... looks like we'll have even more reason to celebrate good times--as though offerings to the goddess of goddessness. Sure wish you could be here!

Interesting story (kind of) one of my private students, a lady about my age who worked for Alpico (a major transportation company here) went out by train to work at the last station going up to Kamikochi. After her first trip on the morning train, which lines stops by at the uni where I teach, she reported that then understood why I must love teaching there... all those young females with their, well, sometimes 'young female' way of dressing and all....

So, I guess 'so-to-speak-better-half Mars Man chan's gonna have to work a little harder this year with keep all our guests with grins from ear to ear. AND...don't worry, undrentide san will surely call us at an appointed time, and I'll let each of you say 'HI !' to her, and she has a really sweet voice that will sooth anyone !!

I know !! I recall that one year (the second time) when Mike had come earlier, and we had joined the neighborhood Cherry Blossom Viewing party, some of the ladies had been teasing him in a flirtatious manner, so maybe we can get them to join us... hee, hee, hee.....

I'm having problems with trying to get in contact with Taiko 666 san. The addresses he had given me in the past are either copied wrongly, or he has changed addresses (cellphone). He does not answer his PM yet (sent in Feb.) I'll call him a bit later on today, though. I am really, really looking forward to this year... HEY PACHIPRO SAN !!!! Everything lined up to fly on over? !
 
Things are not looking too good for my trip there this year as we are probably bringing my mother-in-law to the states within the next few weeks or so as she lives alone and my wife is afraid for her living by herself with all that is going on. Besides, with the rolling blackouts and trains not running well, I'll have to keep a special eye on NHK news to ensure that the trains are running out there when I need it. NHK says the blackouts and such will probably last till winter.

However, that DOES NOT mean I cannot make it. It'll just have to be a trip to MM's place, maybe a little sightseeing and then back to the airport home. I'm looking at about 5 - 7 days max. It'll probably my shortest trip to Japan in the last 20+ years! But, Ashikaga-san can always get me a room at the train station under the name "Turkey-sama"! (Explanation will be provided upon request. That was hilarious Ashikaga-san! The looks on those womans' faces was priceless.)

Lord knows I need a break anyway and it would be great to see MM, Ashikaga, Mike, DutchBaka and the rest of you guys and spend some great time enjoying the view from MM's place as well has his great hospitality not to mention the great conversations that can last till sunrise. I'm sure MM remembers that last night we drank and played darts till sunrise and then had to get me to the train station with a whopping hangover and about three hrs sleep!

@Steve Red: It will be great meeting and conversing with you about the Sumerian Stone Tablets, something I have researched for the last 15 years and TOTALLY believe in for, as they say, "It's written in stone" and I believe that that phrase was referring to the tablets and what we are being taught is a false and alternate history of the human race, but I am getting off topic. I'm just looking forward to making this a reality. Fingers crossed.

Can anyone tell me if it would be better to fly to Osaka and then take the train up to Matsumoto.

I really hope you can make it this year too, Pachipro san !! From Shinjuku, the trains are almost totally running as usual. From Narita to Shinjuku may be another story, but it is seemingly not so much a matter of not having a train, as it is of just having to wait for one to come along, I have been led to believe.

However, flying into Nagoya (not too much trouble either, since I've done it before), and taking a train or bus up, may be smoother. Even if it were a short trip, with getting here on, say, the third, and leaving here on the fifth (but not in the morning (for reasons we'll understand), would be absolutely fantastic. At any rate, I do hope to see you here (and just coming as you are, without any extra baggage, is fine !!!!)

Yes, I still recall that talk and the suddenly noticing the dim light outside the dozo window. I recall a good bit of the topic matter too (and have studied up on some--such as the rare cases of hydrocephalus fetuses, you told me about having seen. I thoroughly enjoyed that time, and sure would again, too--as it seems Steve Red san may also!!!

Pachipro, whether you make it for the main event or not, drop me a PM anytime you plan to visit Matsumoto. If the situation permits I'll try to motor up that way and make the crowd a little bigger.
 
I'm gonna try to make it this year actually, and I'll try to convince my family to come along as well if that's alright. You'll quickly notice my wife is so much more charming than I am (despite but not forgetting all I've written on this board). We can pitch tent if necessary, and I think it'd be cool if my son spent time with a diverse group of foreigners.
 
Please forgive me for posting so much recently, but how can I not say: Revenant, my sons will be stoked to meet your son, yay! :) My boys are just now turning four & seven: "i.imgur.com/33yys.jpg" :) Man, I just got a vision of a potential future 5 years from now a bunch of kids (like 25 of 'em) running around the grass at the Mars Man grounds. And I'm glad you're coming, because you and I have a reiki appointment brother. :)

Revenant san !! THAT SOUNDS JUST GREAT !!!! I really, really, do hope you guys can make it. OF COURSE what you have posted here on JREF, will solely be only here, on JREF, and not in the conversation there, at that time (unless you all present it in any way). We all hold our mouths on that one.

Yes, I will pitch our tent anyway, and go ahead and bring yours too. You recall the area--and we do have the room. I'll make sure the grass is mowed where the tents will be, and will have all the other stuff set up and ready too (tables, Coleman lantern and stove). For cooking, of course, the BBQ area can be lit up anytime, and we can keep a fire burning all day long, anyway. Although your son is a bit older, I know he may well enjoy doing the Lego thing too. (based on, for example [AND YOU GUYS PROMISE TO KEEP THIS A SECRET] my middle, college freshman from April 1st son's enjoyment at making, for example, the large, well defended with all kinds of weaponry ship that you'll all be able to see when you get here. Actually, it's like a model to him, so he has put it up on the shelf, and let's no one touch it.)

I really think your wife will enjoy the countryside here, and the ability to really relax in a kind of 'go ahead and forget the world' way. Please do convince her to come on up, I am very certain she will not regret it at all !! Besides, the JREF meet in Shiga is gonna be a 'first' in a number of ways, I do sense, SO come on up, just as you are!!
 
My son's an extremely decent guy, and I'm proud that he's turned out to be so kind hearted, thoughtful, and intelligent. He's on the laidback side as I am (read that as somewhat lazy).

As to my wife, we get along well now, so long as we don't enter certain issues. I'm not certain where that will all go, but she is like I am, not averse to being different, however she's so much more charming and hardworking (when it comes to dealing with other people) than I am.

Anyways, I've had a few people advise me that she's charming but selfish, and I've had people try and turn my wife against me saying I'm some loser or some such (and I might be in some respects given I'm somewhat lazy and not much for status fights), but in the end, we both keep our own counsel being hardly swayed by other counsel in regards to our relationship and choices in regards to it, and we're headed down a road to which I don't know the outcome of save that one day I still plan on ending it, and that most of what I do is to keep doors open for my son.

Appreciation to those that don't attempt counsel unless asked for, and keeping all under wraps just enjoying the night and allowing us to do the same.

Was informed yesterday that my request for vacation the week of the meet is denied! Seems there has been an "efficiency" study conducted based on expected business and they are only allowing two drivers off that week. Unfortunately, the two off have more seniority and they will not swap with me. I could have the following week off but what good would that do? That sucks as I was so looking forward to this years meet. Oh well, I'll be there in spirit and looking forward to the updates and pics.
 
That's too bad Pachipro, I was actually really looking forward to meeting you! Maybe we can do a skype or something so that you can still join us.

Actually that's not quite so correct. Fred had picked it up at some back alley pawn shop, and traded it with me for a set of T-Rex ribs that I had spent some 35 darts on (them thangs don't fall down a house of cards with a single blow, you know)... So, yes, it is a bit wanky. I do, however, have Skype on it, and can get that up, but the time delay may be about like the time involved in the throwing of them 35 some darts !!

I am very sorry to hear that sad news, Pachipro san; very sad. Also, while I could have sent a couple of my 'boys' up to lean on ASHIKAGA san's boss (had there been that need), Tennessee is a bit too far for my budget. Yes, in spirit you will very much be here, Pachipro san, and we will try to 'huminoid' with that pre-dawn contraption (before we get to 'highly spirited away') and see if we can make some real-time contact. I also very, very much hope to do so, by voice via cellphone (and I will make the call, in order to carry the weight of that cost !!!!) with undrentide chan as well !!

Half-n-Half san is still not able to determine if he can make it or not, but I really, really hope that he will (I mean, even if just coming down to see that prehistoric contraption which we have just recently learned to call a computer, is worth the trip... hee, hee, hee....). I am afraid that all available-to-me contact lines for Taiko666 san, have failed (addresses not valid, and phone number (which he had used last year to call me, even) are no longer in use. I cannot make contact with him, and have no idea. If anyone can check to see if there is any contact information which may be valid, and let me know, or gently check up on him through that, I would very much appreciate it !!

Revenant san is perhaps still in the process of convincing his wife of the far greater value of being here, during that week, and I really do hope he comes out with flying colors on that !! I look forward to hearing his 'yes, we ARE coming !!'

The weather has been slow about warming up, but that was the same last year too--and we have very agreeable weather then (so agreeable that it just made me want to drink and drink, until I couldn't draw a straight line on the third try, even !). My cleaning and prep work is on the verge of being up-to-date, so I have full hopes for that. The location for the ping-pong table is still in deciscion making process, but will have to be outside. I will probably use that downstairs floor space for the full Lego city and blue line train setup.

Today is opening ceremony at our uni, and my middle son is gonna be there. He'll be a freshman in the Human Health Sciences faculty, enrolled in the Sports Health school. (Let's just hope that I don't hear any complaints from those teachers and professors on that 'lazy Mars Man boy who doesn't get his reports in on time, and doesn't give snappy 'HAI' type responses when he is called on.... hee, hee, hee....). I'll be here regularly now, as we have about a month to go before BLAST OFF !!

I'm disappointed also (and severely pissed-off) and it sucks that in this bad economy the company can change the rules and we can't do anything about it. As much as I don't like it, I understand it. However, I am going directly to the terminal manager on Tuesday and if that doesn't work, to the district manager who knows I go to Japan every year. Maybe something good can come of this situation. If not, I'll definitely be there next year come hell or high water.

If I don't make it, I'll probably pass on Japan this year or maybe make a trip in the fall after mom returns.

No need to call MM. I'll call you from here if I'm not there. I believe I still have your cell #.

And Steve Red, I just finished reading Sitchin's (rest his soul) final book "There Were Giants Upon The Earth. Gods, Demigods, and Human Ancestry: The Evidence for Alien DNA" and he lays out a wonderful thesis based on his translations of the Sumerian Tablets that we are hybrids. Get it if you can.
 
Understood. This year, the Universe is giving us an opportunity for growth, in the area of Acceptance. Thanks for the book suggestion, I'll check that out!
 
Is there anything I can do, Pachipro san, like send a truthful, but expressive e-mail that you can show your boss, in which I express for a longing for the 'human touch' that times like these emphasize so well? or something? If you could make it this year, that would of course be just fantastic. It is, as we all know, this year which we can surely bet we have. Next year will of course be in the plans, on the calendar, and so forth and so on, but that is a whole 365 days later. As they say, 'now is the truest reality of time.' Let me know if I can do anything to help give that gentle push towards a successful bit to get that time off.
