JREF = "Just Regularly Exterminates Firefox"?

Am I the only person for whom accessing JREF via Firefox has about a 50/50 chance of crashing Firefox?

I'm now checking it with Firefox, but have no problems with browsing the forum.

Do you have the same thing with other websites? Or just Jref?

I always used Firefox for JREF and never had a problem.

It seems most likely to happen if JREF is the first site I access upon firing up the fox. If I access other sites first I the problem doesn't happen as often.

I've already figured out that much by myself...."Then just don't access JREF first".

Just wondered if I was the only one.

Maybe it has something to do with the forum upgrade that was implemented today?

Admin JP posted to announce the upgrade around 17:17 (JST), and the time of Mike's post is more than 30 minutes after that.

I'm using Firefox as well, and the browser has never crashed on loading JREF. Mike, Dave, which version are you using? The latest one is 3.0.4. Have you installed any add-ons?

This has been going on for months, so it has nothing to do with any recent change in the site. I'm using 2.0.0.18 at the moment. I have a few Greasemonkey scripts installed.

It seems to have to do with the ammount of RAM your PC has and how much is allocated for Firefox to use. It says this problem can cause slow running and crashes? Where are the "GEEKS" when you need them?

I've been using Firefox for years (Screw you, Internet Exploder), and jref has never (directly) caused a crash for me. I usually access this site via Windows XP via Boot Camp on a MacBook, or via fedora Linux.

It could depend on your OS. The OSX port of Firefox is disgustingly inefficient when it comes to the amount of memory it uses (same could be said with just about any third-party software for OSX).

I never liked Fire Fox. I used Opera for the longest time and had no problems. I just started using the google browser and I like it better than Opera.

Maybe it's time for an upgrade?

I don't have any problem with Firefox, but that's because I keep add-ons to a minimum and don't use the browser unless absolutely necessary--when Opera doesn't work with some Java apps.

Opera is my main browser right now. Chrome has yet to add features I need.

Yeah it's a little barren right now for my taste, but it's a lot more compatible than Opera is with every site I've been on so far.
