I'm amazed by the techinique habilities of this bands guitar players. I would like some recomendatinos since this stuff is not popular at all here in Argentina.

What jpop/jrock records/bands has the best guitar playing you know?

Die and Kaoru from Dir en Grey are pretty good...Kyo...*gurgles*

Gaxettes players are awesome too but my recomendation would also be for Dir en Grey.

As a guitarist I have noticed that j-rock doesn't seem to proliferate with shredders. I'm sure there are any number of Japanese super-fast players, but they seem to be very much "musicians' musicians" rather than feature in the most popular j-rock bands. Flashy guitar solos don't abound in j-rock (... strange really that I'm attracted to the music, as I am a real $ucker for flashy solos! XD)

Anyway, my recommendations are:
Galneryus, and Aushvitz (those bands both have the same guitarist, Syu; he is really good. )
Aikaryu (not all of their songs have guitar solos, but those that do, have some nice shred).
Kagrra, (some nice duel-guitar stuff goes on in their rockier songs).
Crosshard (guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura plays some HOT HOT stuff! )
Penicillin (again, not shred in every song, but when they do it, they do it WELL!!!)
B'z (poppier light rock, guitarist Tak Matsumoto is one of the most versatile and best-known).
Merry (not flashy, but tasty blues-rock guitaring with a nice tone).
D
Scissor
Girugamesh
Deathgaze

KuRt and La'Mule have some nice stuff too.

Die and Kaoru from Dir en grey are overrated as guitarists. Sorry, but they are. I'm NOT saying that they're not good. They clearly ARE good, just not as AMAZING as is made out. Dir en grey are a great band, but their strength lies in their COMPOSITIONS, not in the 'shred factor'. However, Die's pinch harmonics own.

Takumi and Shun from Rentrer en Soi
hide from x-japan

Those are the only ones I can recommend because they we're the ones I like the most ^_^

There are threads for them...
There's a sad story about Aikaryu though... because recently they were all involved in a car crash... they all are alive but some members got pretty badly hurt.
And Scissor, I loved them and they broke up but Tsunehito from Scissor now plays bass for D, which is cool but I am still very sad there is no more Scissor because they were something different

I can't believe no one said Shun from Duel Jewel! Not only can he play very well, but he writes some of the best stuff ever.

OMG are they still able to play their instruments? thats so depressing ....

::sniff sniff:: It makes me so sad thinking about the car crash. Have you see the pirate video they did? it's so cute and funny. Poor guys!

Ken from L'Arc isn't too bad. Listen to "Lover Boy".

Ken did S.O.A.P. (Sons of all Pussys , hehe), they've released three singles or mini-albums or whatever they're called (like 3 or 4 songs on each), but I don't think they're doing anything right now.

I'd say D or X-Japan for good guitar, but I really can't say I'm an expert or call myself a guitarist just yet (though I am learning ^^)

With Aikaryu, all of the members are alive, but "okay" is a relative term. The crash only happened a few weeks ago, so they're all still recovering, and 2 are still in the hospital (correct me if I'm wrong on that). They had some pretty serious injuries, so who knows what the future of the band as a whole will be, sadly enough.

ahhh I see

; - ;

I dont really know that much about em but I send em my love!

One of the members had some injuries to his skull. Poor guy. I think only one of the members walked away from the accident without getting hurt. It's a really sad story if you read about it. After the accident the guys didnt know where they were, or where the other members were. One of the members wrote in detail about everything in his blog I believe. Normphobic knows a lot about this, perhaps you can explain more Erica?

Pata from X Japan.
Aikaryu
The Pillows
The Back Horn
Asian Kung-fu Generation.

^_^

Argh!! Again with Aikryu ...

Perhaps I should see If i cant lime some of their music no?

:?

Anyone has this video? If you do please, please, please upload or something

@ Hide: if you go to the Aikaryu thread, I posted a link to where someone on LJ was translating Daiki's diary entries (he must have been dictating them to someone). The link is... hang on...
- - - - - - - - - - - - -> { s u s u m e - p i r a t e s }
and there has been an update since I last looked yesterday! O___o (I was checking it everyday and there was no news since ages T_T)
and yay! it looks like the news is improving...
but poor Shagrath and Uli and Sano...
I'm sorry... I'm in the wrong thread...

anyway, it was Shagrath who has the skull injuries, and Sano one of their crew members also... Uli has fractures to both legs.

I actually nearly said Duel Jewel for the guitaring they have a very unique style.

duel jewel----> noah (song)
penicillin-----> melody(song)
ka.za.ri------> (former band of Die dir en grey)
