I need help finding some websites that offer triband cell phones from Japan. When I go I want to get a pay as you go servce on a GPRS/GSM network and be able to bring it back over to Canada when I am done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

forget it, there is no such thing as GSM phones in Japan, only Keitai denwa. There are phones with chips tho..but it uses a japanese system and is locked so you can't use it with another chip unless ur subscribed to vodafone or you know how to unlock the cellphone. ☝ GSM = passテゥ in Japan ;-) CDMA !!

Yes, there's no GSM band in Japan. Perhaps you go and check Vodafone.jp for international usages. (Japan's cellular network is quite isolated from the world at this moment...)

We have "Tri-band cells" in Sweden too, but they can't be used in japan or vice versa as well?
nope..☝...but I do hope with the new 3G cellphones communication will be better.Japan uses mail to send, we use MMS and SMS...unfortunately this is incompatible with eachother..so it's futile :(

I remember Japan had the 3G phone fo ages, still while we were having large bricks as cell phones with no colour display in Europe....And now that we have colour display and 3G, the 3G is not 100% perfect while Japan has moved on....

..........we are waaaaay behind..!!
