Japanese studies scholarship - unviersity choices

Hello!

I got the embassy recommendation for this scholarship, but the problem is they gave me 2 days to make all the papers and I didn't thought very much while choosing the 3 universities, because I literally had 5 minutes to look through that long list.

Now that the paperwork is over I started researching a little about the choices I wrote there and I'm not so happy with the first choice...I keep hearing bad things about that university from my teachers.

So here is my question. At the final screening, how is your university chosen? What I wrote on that choice list is really that important?

Ohhhh boy I feel like killing someone now.

It's Ochanomizu. I keep hearing scary stuff about the teachers there, plus that I didn't knew it was a girls-only university. Not that I have anything against that, but if I'm going to Japan, I want to be able to know various people.

I wouldn't worry too much, as far as I know, Ochanomizu has a fairly good opinion, teachers are just teachers, they can't ruin your whole experience, and as far as girls-only goes, it's Tokyo, you're gonna have plenty of opportunities of meeting various people.

I'm trying to think like that...and it's enough that I'm going to Japan anyway. Though I'm still pissed I didn't had the chance to do everything properly.

One last question. Only if I'm not accepted into the first university is the second choice considered? I read somewhere that some students were chosen by 2 universities from their list, and they had to choose which one they want. I don't remember if it was for the japanese studies scholarship though.

No, I think what you've read pertains to a different scholarship. In your case, Monkasho goes by the list: first they contact number 1, then number 2, and then number 3, and if they say no, you get assigned automatically with no further questions. Mind you, I don't think I ever met anyone who went beyond number 2.
