Hi all,

I've been racking my brains to remember the formalities of the start/end of a Japanese lesson.

I remember them all standing up, us bowing to each other, but was there some special japanese word that was called out. I really can't remember, but if someone could remind me of the routine.

Thanks.

I think it's :
  • 窶ケN窶板ァ(kiritsu) - Stand up
  • 窶氾ァ(rei) - Bow
  • 窶吮?ヲツ静?chakuseki) - Sit down
Wow, I just noticed how much I miss those school days....:(

Thanks so much

that's great thanks,

I used to stop them doing that day 1!

But now I'm in the UK I wanted to teach some kids here what goes on.

Sooo...

Did one of the pupils shout out kiritsu at the start to make them all stand up?

Who says the other commands.

Thanks so much.

You act like your 28 or something. :p

I always wondered what they said too.👍

起立(kiritsu) - Stand up
着席(chakuseki) - Sit down

I only have vague memory of this classroom routine from my 4th grade year at the private school I attended,me and class-mates would say aloud stand up as our teacher entered the room and waited for our teacher's permission to sit down.

Wait,we kids probably did bowed to our teacher as he or she stood facing us.

Yes.

Who says the other commands.

It depends on the class. Sometimes, the class presidentツ(ナ?w窶ケ窶ーヒ?祥?オ - gakkyuu iinツ or ナスツコ窶卍キ - shitsuchouツ) of the semester does. Other times, all the student in the class do in turn, and the person is called 窶愿コ窶卍シ - nicchoku.

Oh, and all these three commands are said by the same person.
