Japanese rice cooker for Europe

Depends on where in Europe (and which language you prefer). I have seen them in big electric shops in several places in Germany, France and Switzerland, if I remember correctly. Have not been there for a while though. Bought my first rice cooker in the early 1980s in a Japan shop in Europe

You can easily find them at duty-free shops such as LAOX in Akihabara.
I don't know your budget, but if you want a most recent cooker, high-pressure induction heating rice cooker (IH rice cooker), it is an idea to buy the Japanese model as well as a converter.
The converter which enable you to use the rice cooker and the electric grill pan costs you about more than 20000yen, so your careful cost-benefit analysis would be required.

#1. If you also look for an electric grill pan, please keep in mind that the export model include a BBQ plate, but not a Takoyaki plate.
#2. Cooking rice with Donabe, or earthenware pot, is much greater than ordinary electric rice cookers. If you use a cooking gas stove at home and you can bring luggage space, buy some small Donabes in 100 yen shop and a bigger donabe, 2000-3000 yen.
#3. Just look at the website of Zojirushi, a leading rice cooker producer, and you will realise their marketing strategy in Europe is so poor.

Try a Toshiba or Panasonic rice cooker, and don't use a metallic scrubber. Soak it in water to soften any old hardened rice before washing.

You should also avoid using abrasive cleanser (even those look very smooth such as Cif/Jif/Vim/Vis) or tough type of sponge (like the dark green part of this one) when washing it.
