Hello dear all!

Is there a Japanese proverb about independence? Something that would translate to something like 'walk alone stand alone'? I have seen it on a tattoo design, and was told that this was its meaning, but couldn't locate the actual phrase - if it exists.

独立独歩 dokuritsudoppo, maybe?

Each kanji of 独歩 indeed seemingly means "walk alone", but this compound word actually means "to do something by oneself" here.
