Japanese can be involved into devastating war with China only because of shortsightedness of Japanese government. Their 窶廣merican friends窶 completed the agreement about joint use of American air force base Yokota.
Of cause benefactors from USA only care about strengthening of Japanese defense system. They certainly hadn窶冲 a single thought about ability of war with China while signing that agreement. But let us do not trust them.
USA too often interfere into their allies窶 affairs and recently became too aggressive. It is very likely that this time they窶决e intending smth suspicious too.
This system in Yokota is very comfortable as warding of Chinese missiles. It is useful for USA and it won窶冲 strengthen Japanese defence at all. On contrary it is very likely that USA are trying to drag Japan into their military preparation for great war. They窶决e gaining support of Japanese politicians flattering here echoing there and encouraging militarist ambitions of some of them.

There would be no benifit and it would really make little sense. The Japanese would never go to war with China.

Secondly i dont think the rest of the world would agree with this due to China becomming more economically stable recently and it slowly evolving socially(Causing a few less problems politically). Iraq was one thing but invading China would be something else. Not to mention China would probally put up quite a good fight itself meaning that the cost of such a war would again rule out the need for one.

NK however is a completely differnt matter. They will be attacked pretty soon only i think it will more of a case of lots of cruise missiles and bomber plains rather then tanks and infantry.

As Castor said there really is no quarrel. I mean true China's constant moaning about WWII war crimes is quite irritating but that is hardly a reason to go to war. (Please please please dont bring this up. READ OTHER TOPICS BEFORE WWII WARCRIME POSTS)

Japan needs to watch it'self with China having more cruise missiles pointed at Tiwan since the 1970's. Recent squabblings over texts books and anti-Japanese contempt in China hasn't helped matters...but even though war is unlikely i reckon Japan needs to rid it's self of this ram-shackle army organised by the US after WW2 that cannot fire unless they are shot!

War usually comes out of poverty, anxiety and extremism, I don't see how an affluent nation like today's Japan should be preparing for war when people have other more economical and rational alternatives.

First of all, please don't be paranoid, Japan has been one of the largest military spender in recent decades, and their military is second to none in the region. They are also capable of assembling nuclear weapons in a matter of months with their existing nuclear facilities and plutonium stocks. Do a little bit of research on your own before you sound ignorant. Secondly, there are huge US bases in Japan and nearby Pacific islands, just there to watch over the region. Thirdly, ask yourself WHY on earth would anyone bother to attack Japan unprovoked? Is Japan sitting on mountains of oil? Of gold and minerals? Will China be after those useless US$ assets in Japan's banks while it is desperately trying to unload its own US reserves? Use those little grey cells, please.

The other trigger would be Taiwan declaring independance, and US-Japan decides to have a showdown with China over it. Yes , I agree with you . The confucianism in China will prevent the war from outbreak firstly in China.

Personally I don't agree with the first cause , I don't think China will assist N.Korea if the war outbreaks , China has the ability to persuade N.Korea but it depends on HOW it shows the interests to N.K. if it drops the nuclear plan.China and N.K. are somewhat like the alliance in Northeast Asia , For China ,the most important thing is to develop, to boost the economy , not to consider far-reaching security problems , the economy is the most important.

Agreed , but I think the large investments in this area will relieve the tension
