It interesting watching the performance of leadership candidates for the LDP and the opposition Constitional Democratic Party. The LDP politicians look so grumpy (Shigeki scowling). The opposition politicians are all making an attempt to look pleasant with some even smiling.

Although I'm not expecting anything revolutionary to happen, seeing so many LDP candidates running for the party leadership promises to be interesting. With all the factions (officially) disbanded, I'm curious how they will reach a consensus between liberals and progressives such as Ishiba and Kono and ultra-nationalists like Takaichi. And I'd be stunned if they just went for the pretty face of Koizumi Junior.

Sadly, the opposition isn't much more appealing either: the public appearances of their four candidates were uninspiring. They are only united in their rejection of everything LDP.

Sadly that is basically the state of politics everywhere. Very few seem to be interested in actually improving things for the people and instead just want to stick it to the other side. :(
