I'm looking for someone who speaks Japanese pretty well as a somewhat tutor as well as a friend! I live in Detroit so hopefully someone nearby!!

See if there is a Japan American Society in your area. How about seeing if your parents would allow a Japanese student to stay with you while they go to a high school near you on an exchange program. Maybe check with local colleges near you for Japanese students attending there. They might act as a tutor to earn extra money. How about checking with a Japanese resturant near you, maybe a Japanese person there can steer you in the right direction.

Chances are there's no one on this site that fit your description, but that's not to say there aren't any Japanese or speakers in Michigan. Your best bet are probably schools with Japanese language and exchange programs, followed by local culture-related communities like Buddhist churches.
