Japanese as an art

I find the written Japanese language really interesting to look at.
Besides calligraphy, what do you think of Japanese the written language
as an art?

well its really pretty as u said but like theres smbols to mean stuff and they have them on pices on art so y not it would be cool i think

I find beauty in all written languages on many levels (aesthetics is just one aspect of beauty). I enjoy written Japanese partially because of the contrast between simple and complex forms; how it's more drawn than written. A hand-written line has character; a script in almost any language reveals a bit of the character of its author. Even in print, the most popular typefaces are designed with the same stroke contrasts in mind as a calligrapher.

However, as much as I can admire written Japanese for its aesthetics, I especially appreciate it when I can actually understand what it says. I can only hope that an increased understanding of the written language doesn't diminish my appreciation for its form. I think we have a tendency to take for granted something as simple as a hand-written note.

Me personally, I love the Japanese written language.. Or shall I say Kanji?

I find Kanji's very fascinating, as they are little stories on their own. Often I do not know how to pronounce a certain Kanji, but I can derive the meaning of the words by looking at the combination of the radicals. I think Kanji's are the best things since even before bread came sliced.
