hello all,

im a music producer and i am really interested in workin/livin in japan so im lookin for any jpop/rap/rnb artists names, official websites, email...anything that could help me started and do a research on how to get in touch with them, via mail/email/even phone... any help is appreciated... thank you

no offence, but the way you are going about this is kind of odd. Why don't you just
call up some record companies in Japan. Unless, you plan on trying to sign artists to and not just produce music. I recommend you do some research on japanese pop culture its a lot different, then western. Plus, just read the jpop section.

yeah im just tryin to get some names of ANY japan pop artist and i guess ill go from there...if u can drop me some names then i wont feel offended by ur comment....jk...lol...i dont get offended that easy...thanks shorty....btw i see ur from canada, which city are u stayin at?

No disrespect meant or anything, but if you're only looking for names of J-Pop artists... perhaps you should try looking at... oh, I don't know... ANY thread in the entire J-Pop Forum? Heck, you don't even have to read any of the threads... even the TITLES have the names of artists in them.

Try the "Name your top ten fave groups" thread or the "Your first Japanese band?" threads, just amongst the recent ones... they both have plenty of names listed there. You can use those names and some basic Web-searching to find official sites with contact info for many of them, I'm sure...

You're probably not getting much response because this thread screams that you're not willing to make even the slightest bit of effort to find the information you're looking for... try searching around yourself first, and if you then have some more specific questions, come back and see us. There's a lot of knowledgeable people here who'd be more than happy to go to great lengths to find difficult info for a truly interested and motivated seeker... that's what brought me here in the first place.

Hmm, why Japan? You obviously don't have much affinity with it's pop-culture, so why do you want to move to Japan so bad? Is it that old myth that when you make it in Japan, you're instantly loaded?

And do you have any samples of your work online?

why japan? because i am interested on living there and experience the whole culture(not money despite what u might think)...which im learning about little by little, and yeah your right i dont have any affinity with its pop culture because i have yet to understand it which also im tryin to get into now, music is my life and i am in love with it. I listen to EVERY music I come across, from jazz to rnb/soul, rock to country, pop to traditional folk and of course hip hop.
I feel like music is the only thing I could do to make it down there. And as for the myth, just like you said, its a myth, im a very realistic person I dont believe in myths.

Well, to give you a direction on where to look, get these two albums: Suite Chic - "When pop hits the fan" and "Astromantic" from M-Flo.

These albums feature about everyone who is anybody in the Japanese R&B/Hip Hop scene.

mflo and suite chic are more like pop rap...for the japanese hiphop scene i suggest u check the artist list at www.cultureuniversal.com. there are official sites of the artists there as well. good luck!
