Derick do you know about 音読み おにょみ Onyomi and 訓読み くにょみ Kunyomi? Kanji usually have 1 of each but some have 2, theres some with loads which have absolutely sod all in relation to each other. I tried learning the 100 most widely used Kanji myself too, many websites have different ideas on the 100 most used. Also a lot of them are pretty pointless unless you live in a Japanese city.
Heres some (In my opinion) useful ones:-
私 - Watashi/Watakushi the primarily male 1st person pronoun
男 - Otoko/Otokono man/male/boy
彼女 - Kanojo she/her
彼 - Kare he/him
彼ら - Karera they
僕 - Boku male pronoun
人 - Hito person
月 - Gatsu basically what they use for month
時 - Ji/Jikan basically 'time' when your writing about what time it is
分 - Fun/Pun both pretty much mean minute, some numbers are fun, some are pun never found any rule but I'm sure Mike will

一 - Ichi
二 - Ni
三 - San
四 - Shi/Yon lots of people say only yon after 10 and others disagree just use yon as its more polite with shi being associated with death and all that
五 - Go
六 - Roku
七 - Shichi/Nana same as shi/yon
八 - Hachi looks just like Katakana 'ha' pain in the ***..
九 - Ku/Kyuu you see both written either is fine to be honest
十 - Ju/Jyuu ^ above
Theres also another number system but its archaic apparently and isnt used. Theres another one specifically for currency but again not useful unless you live in Japan. Bah that took a while switching between IME and english lol ill add in the Hiragana later if it'll help.
