Is this correct?

How do I say, "Your dad is weird." I'm just trying to work on making sentences grammatically correct, or at least understandable (my problem is particles) I see the particle 'de' a lot. I found out how its used, and boy I was surprised, its usage is confusing!

I need to figure out particles.

So is this correct?
あなたの父がおかしいですよ！

Anata no chichi ga okashii desu yo!
Your (father) weird is (ephasis)

No is possessive, ga is the subject marker (father), okashii (weird , I think?) yo is for emphasis.

(PS: I still don't have a book yet. Like 4 people have said they'd send it, none have done so. (At least, none of told me so). One person even lives in my own state, and still haven't gotten it. When I get one, I'll stop asking so many questions, I promise. )

I'm by far no expert. However I have my lesson book right here with me so I thought I'd lend a hand.

Since you are not speaking of your own father you would say otoosan- おとうさん. If you were speaking to someone else of your own father you would say chichi. If you were addressing your/someone else's father directly you would say otoosan.

As far as sentence structure I won't even go into that, as I don't know much of what I'm doing myself! lol I'll let someone who knows what they're talking about to help you with that.

The structure looks correct but remember you wouldn't say that to a stranger so you should substitute anata with ~san (mr/mrs/ms so-so) probably use ha and not ga since the main topic is that the dad is wierd.

I agree with @Damicci about using wa instead of ga. Ga answers the question "which one" or "who" and emphasizes it as the subject while wa answers "what" or "how". It would only be appropriate here, for instance, if this was in response to something like "Who do you think is stranger -- my father or yours?" In that case you would need to say "Yours is stranger Anata no ga okashii." But as a general statement or description about a person, wa is the only thing that makes sense..

Instead of okashii I would use hen na ;-) Okashii is more 'funny'.

I wouldn't say to anyone that their father was hen desu yo. :=)
Okashii could be like "acting strangely" or "something is up with your father"
or "is crazy," but also funny or goofy or a little eccentric.

hen means : odd,strange,suspicious-looking

So that's why I think it suits 'weird' better

I totally agree. Anytime I think of Hen I think of something not normal very close to hentai hen +tai...
I think okashii fits fine.

I love this method. "Kawatta hito" was the way Razor Ramon/Hard Gay was described by my host mom, and I thought it was the biggest understatement ever.
