Is the order of Kyōiku Kanji on Wikipedia canonical?

I noticed that the Kyōiku Kanji on Wikipedia are listed in a certain order, and even have numbers on their left: Kyōiku Kanji - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

However, there's no information where these numbers came from. Are they official, or did someone make them up? If someone did make them up, is there a different official strict ordering for a list of kanji within a Kyōiku grade?

The ordering of the kanji lists seems somewhat reasonable and could aid in memorization, but I'm afraid to memorize an ordering that is completely made up by Wikipedians rather than by some Japanese government language committee.

The official list on the MEXT (dept. of education) website lists them by year with no particular numbers within (I'm not sure of the ordering used, it might be by kana order by on reading, given that the first three are 一、右、雨 , e.g. イチ、ウ、ウ).

The exact order in which you learn them isn't hugely important. I'd guess most people would group similar kanji together (e.g. learn the numbers together, and the day of week kanji which are also all in grade one).
