Is anyone else getting sick of the JRef friends banner?

I don't know whether it is just me, but recently when browsing the forum and on opening a new page, my browser jumps back up to the top of the page to prompt me to enter a username in the JREf friends banner.

This is very annoying as if you are scrolling down the page before it is fully loaded - and I can't be the only one who does this, then you continually get bounced back up. It also means that it you use the keyboard to navigate a lot - ie backspace to go back in the browser - it doesn't work because you have been directed to a typing prompt in the banner.

I know free sites have to have advertising to remain free, but this seems overly in your face.

It also really annoys me because I am already a paying member of JREF friends!!!!!!!

I've been wondering why recently the browser is behaving strangely.
So this is the reason! (rolling eyes)

It is especially inconvenient when I'm using the browser inot full screen size.
To reply this post, for example, I put the cursor in this "reply" space, and just when I try to type my reply, the cursor jumped up to the very top of the screen where the "user name" of JREF frends banner, so I had to scroll the screen again to start typing.
Really annoying.

I don't mind the advertisement, but I do hope something is done about this particular ad.

I was irked by it, too. My Opera auto login didn't work until just now.
It seems to have been fixed, at least for me...

PS Nope... not fixed yet when I logged in again...

I wonder who's administrating the board at the moment. When I joined, Maciamo and Thomas did the job. But who are those mysterious Admin 1 and Admin 2 guys?

Admin 1 and Admin 2 are J-Bots two oldest sons; he has many child robots. Admin 2 is a twin look-alike to Futurama's Bender except he smokes a pipe instead of a cigar like Bender. Admin 1 was often seen on the TV show "Lost In Space" and is better known as "Robbie". You will recall him waving his arms and saying "DANGER! Will Robinson". Do to extensive schooling in Japan, they are both much smarter then their dad J-Bot, thank God!

Another thing that seems to happen (at least to me) is when I open multiple posts into different windows, if I click back to the main window with the new post search screen, the JREF Friends banner sucks me back to the window I just opened. Kinda defeats the purpose of opening multiple windows if I am stuck in that one!

It doesn't do it with Firefox (tabbed browsing) but it does with IE where you have to open a new window.

The new IE7 has tabbed browsing and it doesn't happen. At least I have not had a problem with it. BTW good to see u back again and posting.

The new IE7 has tabbed browsing and it doesn't happen. At least I have not had a problem with it. BTW good to see u back again and posting.

IE7 is not an option for me sometimes when I come here. At home I use firefox and don't notice any issues.

Just a note--- I'm a member of Hirag@na Times friends, a nihonjinron publication World Friends Affiliate, is there any benefit to joining JRef Friends... I guess the obvious answer is that the money would go to JRef, not the other company--- but are the services for World Friends Affiliates similar??

Sorry, I don't know about their services, but we have never had complaints about JREF Friends.
