Hey everyone!
Obviously, I'm new here. I'm a 20 year old guy in the U.S.
In 6 months or so, I'm hoping to go to Japan. I want to spend a while, maybe a year or two, traveling the country and understanding the culture. I find it a really interesting place, and not because of the anime/manga (I don't even watch them). Fans of the Zelda series may recognize my name.
I have been doing Zen Buddhism for the last year, which has influenced me a lot to visit Japan. While I'm there, I would like to visit many temples.
I'd like to start somewhere in the South and travel North, staying in cities for a couple of months at a time, getting the culture of each. Thats my goal at least. I've never left the U.S. or traveled alone so this will be a new experience for me.
I've been trying to learn Japanese for few weeks, it has been tough. So I may pop in ask ask questions on here. If anyone has any traveling advice, of places to see, things to do, or help learning Japanese, let me know! I could use all the help I can get. When I go, I will probably take lots of pictures and keep you all posted, if you are nice. 🙂
See you around.

What visa are you planning to get for your trip to Japan? You can only be there for 90 days at a time if you use the visa waiver program.
