Pleased to meet you Milady, just recently joined in order to view the post of other people on the Japanese Government Scholarship so I could increase my chances of getting one. I intentionally quit my education as a nurse here in the philippines because I felt that there were already too many nurses here. Such scholarships are incredibly interesting to me, but my plans for the future involve my staying in the US for quite some time. However, though life is short, there' plenty of time to make a visit or two to where ever I should like, so perhaps Japan will be one of those places!
It's funny you should mention formerly studying to be a nurse, because that is what I am currently doing. I have one more year to go, then I get to test for my license.
I wish you the best of luck with your future and with your pursuit of that scholarship!

Well, I didn't get the scholarship 
, but not to worry I still have plan B I'm going to the Philippine Military Academy. Everything is free, except you have to go through hell and back to make it out alive...

Well, if you ever happen to be in Virginia and need medical attention, Uncle Frank, you'll have to let the forum know so I can pay a visit. Perhaps I can trade some medical know-how for some bits of Japanese. ^_^
Johan, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't able to get the scholarship you were after. I certainly know how that can be, though I'm only ever applying for help to get through school! There is much respect to be had for a soldier, however, and there have been many in my family for decades upon decades (though, of course, not in the Philippines!)
It may be a grueling career to begin, but at least they don't make you pay for all that hell they send your way, I suppose.
