Information on MEXT scholarship

Hi! Everyone. I am new to this forum. And like everyone here, I am also interested in studying in Japan. I would like to study for the Master's degree. Currently I am pursuing my Mechanical Engg(3rd yr). I have got some questions and doubts about the MEXT scholarship(some questions might be dumb but please bear with me)::
1) The eligibility for Master's program is minimum 65% in the relevant field. So my question is how are the marks considered. I mean is the average percentage considered or only the last exam score is considered?
2) If I am interested in taking the course in English then do I have to give the scholarship exam in Japanese? And how much Japanese should I learn for English courses? And will they consider TOEFL scores?
3) About the recommendation part:For requesting a recommendation from a professor/university, what is expected from us. And how to request?
4) What should you expect in the interview?

Hellos, just sharing from my limited experience applying for the MEXT 2011 postgrad scholarship. Regarding your questions,
1) I am not too sure about how percentage relevance is calculated >_<
2) Applicants have to take the exam in both English and Japanese. You can choose not to take the Japanese exam if you do not know Japanese (i.e. I have seen people just walk out of the hall). But there's nothing to lose if you give it a try =)
3) It would be best if you could get a professor who has worked with you in a research capacity to write a recommendation for you. Since this is a research scholarship, it would be beneficial for the selection committee to know how well you operate in a laboratory environment.
4) In the interview, you have to be sure why you chose Japan (and the particular school of your choice) as the option for your postgraduate studies. You'll also have to be familiar with your research proposal.
