even though i was born in England i not supposed to say im english im supposed to say im british, because being english is not enough, anyone in the world speaks english these days....so im british.

The two relevant points are comprehension and reputation.

Jref is a relatively refined forum. How likely you are to be taken seriously is going to depend, at least in part, on how careful you are with your grammar and punctuation.

As for comprehension if I take a line from another of your posts -

- I'm really not sure what you mean. Are you sure 'negotiate' was the right word?

I regard myself as English first, British second and European third. At the moment, in this country, you can call yourself Irish, Scottish and Welsh, but not English. It seems our government dislike anythign English and prefer to use Scottish etc. What do you expect from a Scottish Prime Minister. Our last census forms had a section on 'which ethic group are you'. It had Irish, Welsh and Scottish, but not English. If you wanted to be known as English you had to fill in other and state your ethnic group. It seems you can be racist to the English, but not to anyone else. I am pround to be English and British, so ya boo shucks to the PC brigade.

Funny that you are the second British-born Chinese to say that in this thread.

IMO, the ethnicity of most English people is Germanic (vs Celtic or Celto-Germanic in Ireland, Wales and the Scotltish Highlands), as it is a mix of Anglo-Saxon and Viking/Norman.

I don't really like saying I'm British... I'm Scottish! It really gets me when in the list of countries on a website has United Kingdom but not Scotland... I'm glad Scotland was on your list! I got rasied the way a lot fo Scottish people do.. the "English bastards" attitude. From what I've heard speaking to English people, they get the same about Scotland.. It's an old rivalry. I don't mind the English... but the accent drives me insane :sorry:

I suppose you are aware that pound has two distinct meanings : the currency and the measure unit. The latter is also used in the rest of Europe, mostly for food and is equal to about 0.45kg.

The UK is in a transition phase toward the exclusive usage of the metric system (metres, grammes, seconds) which should be completed in 2009. Metric units have been taught at school since the late 1960's, and laws already restrict the use the old Imperial units for most things, except the trade of goods and services (so pubs can still sell "pints").
