I Was Wondering ??

My 2 year old hard drive has started to chatter now & then. SO, to be safe, I'd like to install a new (bigger/faster) one. I know Windows XP only lets you load it once or twice soooo, I want to transfer everything to the new drive rather then reload. I've seen 2 software programs(must be more) that say they do this. I think they were "GHOST" & "DRIVE TO DRIVE". Has anyone done this without a hitch, and what program would you use to do it?
Would it be better to have both drives on the same cable as Master & Slave or plugged into the motherboard as drive A & B , both set as masters?

AFAIK you can load windows XP as many times as you want to. I've personally re-installed windows on the machines that I have here about a dozen times There should be no problem with it.

The question is like this: Do you not want to have to re-install software from your old windows drive to the new one? If that's the case then yeah you will have to copy the entire thing. If you don't really care and just want to save files and stuff, you can install XP on the new drive, hook them both up to your computer and just drag and drop the files you want to the new one.

If you want to actually backup everything I would suggest using a program called Casper XP. It's available as a paid download on the internet, but its incredibly easy to use. Even someone who isn't a big computer nerd can figure it out in a minute or two.

It will make an identical copy of your file system on your new hard drive for you, no problem.

Turns out Casper XP is the replacement to Drive 2 Drive, made by the same outfit. The idea I can order it on the PC is great, can't always find good software at the mall. Now I just have to decide what to get for a new drive; maybe swap my 3 120 gigs to a 300? Thanks again for the help!
