I hate it when

When I was younger , I liked to feel I was different then other people by the way I dressed or talked or acted. Now when I'm an old dinosaur , I wonder why we feel we have to stand out in some way. One thing that catches my eye a lot are people covered in tats. I see people here in Maine , when it's freezing cold wearing shorts and a T-shirt so their tats show. Hair with bright colors is an other thing I see a lot , even with people over 60. One part of me thinks it a "HEY LOOK AT ME" thing but then I remember I used to do similar things. I feel like I'm an old fuddy duddy for thinking about it all.

Yea introspection and self-knowledge can bite you in the butt like that :D And you're not a fuddy duddy for thinking that, it just sounds like you've outgrown the need to be a unicorn and settled for, 'eh, this is fine'. Isn't that what most of us do when we finally grow up? The sort of growing up that has nothing to do with how old we are but more where we are in life.

I hate it when when my parents make me spend time with them.

I hate it that my dad has passed away so now I can never spend another moment with him again. I have some of his clothes that I inherited, but I can't see them as mine. They still feel like they belong to him. Things like that are the closest I have to him now.

I used to argue with him quite a bit, and I hated working on projects together with him, but now that he's gone...it would be worth the tradeoff to have him back.

I hate it that my mother is getting old. All her friends are passing away. 2024 has been a rough year for her. Now she lives by herself and only has one friend left from the old days in the neighborhood. None of her kids live near her.

My deepest condolences.
