btw if you wanted to know more about communism or what not, you could have just asked or started out with, hello im writing this esssay about cause and effect, how would you react, instead of triking some people here who put real effort and thought into answering to your post.
Whilst his way of doing his essay was a bit dubious, it did have the effect he wanted. Saying that he was writing an essay on the subject and then asking reactions on communism would cause an effect he wasn't looking for. This way he could observe actual reactions instead of a more subjective reaction. Any results this way have not been skewed by announcing what his intentions really were. At least he had the manners to admit what he was doing and put a stop to it before the thread degenerated into abuse and eventually locked.

But in doing so he runs the risk of losing whatever credibility he may have had amongst the members of this community who took the time to reply. Is the tradeoff worth the end result? Apparently for him it was. Using the copout "I'm just a kid and I need to get my kicks somewhere..." shows a lack of maturity without so much as an "apologies to all who took me seriously..." Reminds me of another member's dubious postings...

THOR, im not!

But Iron Chef you are right, sorry to all who did think it was real. As for geting "kicks", do you perfer me doing this in real life? im not THAT stupid. The forums where the best place that i could think of without probably geting killed in the process.

Yes, me too. I think that's why I'm not too entertained by this shenanigan.

No, you're definitely not Thor, Ghost, but it still makes me apprehensive because of that very person.

mmm..... well im still going to look into it more. If you get into something as deep as this, you come out way smarter than someone looking at a glance(which is what most people do). Sometimes you have to jump in and learn to swim, dangerous but the risk is worth it.

1. Abolition of private property

2. A progressive graduated income tax

3. Abolition of all inheritance

4. Confiscation of all property of dissidents and emigrants.

5. Creation of a monopolistic central bank with state capitol to control credit (read Federal Reserve of US and World Bank and International Monatary Fund [IMF])

6. Centralization of all communication and transport.

7. State control over factories and farm production.

8. State ownership of all capital and the creation of a deployable labor force.

9. Combining agriculture with manufacturing industries and the gradual distribution of the population to blur the distinction between towns and rural country.

10.Free public education to all children.

Does this sound familiar to what is currently going on in the US and Europe right at this very minute right under your very noses? If you can find the time Read the Patriot Act and Patriot Act II.

Well these are the ten points outlined by Karl Marx for the establishment of a perfect communist state.

I think we already had #7 back during WWII in the U.S.

In fact, Roosevelt implemented a lot of astounding things as wartime emergency measures.

I don't see this happening at all. Can you give me some examples?

A rather little bit...

Those guys who run around with their circled A represent only one of many groups of anarchists. If they are anarchists at all, I might add. It seems that they want to dictate others how they have to live & that's not really anarchist. That's simply group authoritarianism. A bunch of self-righteous idiots, if you ask me.

Where does the circled-A come from?

The circled-A is even more famous than the Black and Red-and-Black flags as an anarchist symbol (probably because it lends itself so well to graffiti). According to Peter Marshall the "circled-A" represents Proudhon's maxim "Anarchy is Order." [Demanding the Impossible p. 558] Peter Peterson also adds that the circle is "a symbol of unity and determination" which "lends support to the off-proclaimed idea of international anarchist solidarity." ["Flag, Torch, and Fist: The Symbols of Anarchism", Freedom, vol. 48, No. 11, pp. 8]

However, the origin of the "circled-A" as an anarchist symbol is less clear. Many think that it started in the 1970s punk movement, but it goes back to a much earlier period. According to Peter Marshall, "n 1964 a French group, Jeunesse Libertaire, gave new impetus to Proudhon's slogan 'Anarchy is Order' by creating the circled-A a symbol which quickly proliferated throughout the world." [Op. Cit., p. 445] This is not the earliest sighting of this symbol. On November 25 1956, at its foundation in Brussels, the Alliance Ouvriere Anarchiste (AOA) adopted this symbol. Going even further, a BBC documentary on the Spanish Civil War shows an anarchist militia member with a "circled-A" clearly on the back of his helmet. Other than this, there is little know about the "circled-A"s origin.

Today the circled-A is one of the most successful images in the whole field of political symbolising. Its "incredible simplicity and directness led [it] to become the accepted symbol of the restrengthened anarchist movement after the revolt of 1968" particularly as in many, if not most, of the world's languages the word for anarchy begins with the letter A. [Peter Peterson, Op. Cit., p. 8]

I think ill get it tatooed. That will REALLY suprize the parents 😊

The recent Supreme Court decision is a very alarming step in that direction.

A pithy aphorism, if I may.....

"Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig."

Y are you 2 getting so roused up about nothing? In his little exerpt there are sources cited. If you really wanna bother that much look those sources up. Maybe this was taken from his essay and not from an URL, i'm surprised how easily some people make assumptions

You think I'm roused up?

no, maybe annoyed should have been a better choice of words, and I donna, but I don't think one mite appreciate a pithy aphorism like that directed to them.....

To further Mike's answer, the recent Supreme Court decision allowing the government of any state, city, or town to confiscate your PRIVATE property and house if they deem it necessary to increase tax revenue by building condos or factories. Of course they are supposed to pay you "fair market" value, but that is rarely the case.

Also the police can confiscate your home, cars, property if they even think you are selling drugs. Also if you are found with a large amount of cash in your home or on your person in excess of $5,000 they can also confiscate your home and such as the thinking is that anyone with that amount of free cash that is not in a bank must be dealing in drugs. If you don't believe me check with your local laws and research these confiscations. Some innocent people are still trying to get their house back.

They are also mulling around a bill that will severely tax the inheritance of all property and businesses where the receiving parties will be forced to sell said property or business in order to pay the taxes.

Still think this is not happening at all right under your nose? By asking that question you epitomize the thinking of the majority of people in this country as they, like you, don't follow the laws close enough to even know it is happening somewhere everyday in every city. But ask the average Joe Blow in the US who is leading on American Idol and they will answer in a heartbeat. Ask them who is leading in the polls for the next election in their town or what bills are being considered for passage and they haven't a clue.

Ma Cherie, you ought to read 'Wild Swans' by Jung Chang and her account of living through the Cultural Revolution. Brainwashed isn't the word I would use after reading it, fear is more accurate. You'll probably like it. I'm currently reading her book on Mao and so far it has revealed a few facts about his commitment to communism and the way he treated his 'Comrades'

Hey, I heard about that book. But I never got around to reading it. Most of the books I've read about the Cultural Revolution were amateurishly written ,one book that was good was Red Azalea by Anchee Min This gives more a personal account of what she and comrades went through. Thanks for the reccomendation. 👍

That's interesting, and I'm really shocked by this. I didn't hear anything about this decision, I need to really pay attention more. Thanks!

Very close.

They both look wonderful on paper. Where they fail is that they ignore human nature.

Let's amplify this a bit more just to make sure he understands the full impact of it and how very strongly it erodes property rights.

The decision allows the government of any state, city, or town (except where prohibited by more restrictive state laws) to confiscate your PRIVATE property in order to sell it to another PRIVATE entity. The decision allows a board of aldermen (and we know they are unsusceptible to corruption) to decide which of two private citizens they think should own a piece of property, when one of them already owns it.

Read the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, contemplate this decision, and scratch your head.

going back to the issue of private property in the US, i really doubt if anything will happen so that private property in the US is taken away or reallocated or like given to gov control. Private property in the US is a sacred thing, and is one of the pillars that the country was built on.

Then you must not understand the ramifications of the recent Supreme Court decision.

There has always been the possibility of private property being taken for public use (government control, if you like) under imminent domain. What the court has just established is that the government can take property from the current owner using imminent domain and then turn it over to another private person or corporation under the reasoning that increasing the tax generated from the property is sufficient "public good" to justify depriving the current owner of his property rights.

Confidence in the sanctity of private property rights is, as you perceive, a fundamental pillar of a free, capitalistic society. While private property rights have not been eliminated by the decision, confidence in them has been undermined.

I'm glad you are shocked by this. Yes, you do need to pay more attention and I'm glad you have learned something here. It's too bad the other 99% of Americans cannot see what is happening to their rights. Remember Thor, the government can now search you, your car, your home without even a search warrant anymore thanks to the Patriot Act. All they need is the belief that you are doing something wrong. That's all. Study a little about WWII history in Europe, especially Germany and you'll understand what is happening here. Hell, here in Nashville, TN they are encouraging citizens to rat out their neighbors for littering or to turn in car license numbers speeding on the highway. I wouldn't be surprised if they are asking kids in school to observe their parents and to turn them in. They are even encouraging kids to turn in their parents if they receive a spanking! Something really odd is going on in this country!

Thanks Mike for your additional input. It is what they call "Eminent Domain" which gives the government the right to confiscate any property for the betterment of the city or town. This decision was decided by the Supreme Court because a group of citizens in the northeast was having their beachfront property confiscated by the city in order to build condominiums for Phizer corporation, a very large pharmaceutical company with alot of pull with politicians. They sued the city and it was sent to the Supreme Court. The city wanted the extra tax revenue these condos would provide. The homeowners lost and will have to forfeit their prime beachfront property now by law! whether they like it or not! They cannot refuse or they will be arrested!

It used to be a sacred thing Duo, but the recent Supreme Court decision regarding "Eminent Domain" makes that moot. It doesn't matter anymore, if the city, state, or town wants your property to increase tax revenue you are out of luck.
