i-adjective with na-grammar?

A friend showed me a copy of a Japanese textbook called "Japanese in Mangaland", in which I saw the following sentence: よくないな、それ。

The translation is "That's not good", but what is with the な? I thought i-adjectives modified nouns without any particle in between, like 高い館。 By that logic, the sentence would be よくないな、それ, unless the な is not a modifier particle but a sort of slanged ね or something?

That's not a slangy but a proper(of course colloquial, though) sentence final particle mostly used by male. Unlike ね for confirmation, な is used to express the speaker's emotion (dissatisfaction) as a soliloquy in that example sentense.
