BEPPU, Oita Pref. (Kyodo) This hot spring resort is gradually regaining popularity with tourists, helped by the reconstruction of a failed five-star hotel and strenuous efforts by a group of young local business leaders to resurrect the city's reputation.

I Really Enjoyed Beppu In 1970 !!

The ride to the top of the mountain was great!

Hmm.....

When I went there in 2001 I was let down.... I think, if you're interested in onsen, there are MUCH better places to go. I don't like big resort towns in Japan, such as Beppu or Shirahama. Too expensive and too crowded. I've managed to find much better places off the map. It just takes time to find em.'

(Forget Shirahama, Minabe had great centos and onsen!)

Maybe you will have to show me a few of these, if you are free while I am over in Osaka/Kyoto
