Hello everyone, I'm new here to this board. My name is Eric and I am a 5th generation Japanese-American in Hawaii. I am an avid genealogist, but can't read much of what I find so it's quite difficult. I am however taking Japanese at my high school. Over here, Japanese is offered from levels 1 to 4, and Advanced Placement, so I'm really qutie fortunate. Once I graduate high school in 09, I plan to either go to an American university in Japan or UW in Washington. Best regards to everyone here!

Welcome to JREF Eric! Oh how I wish I had the opportunity to take Japanese in high school! Sure would have made my life a lot easier. Enjoy the forum!

Thanks for the welcomes guys! I'm only in Japanese 1 right now with Japanese 2 next semester. Going to be tough since I'm already having trouble in the "easy" class. Anyway, Japanese is offered at my HS along with Hawaiian and Spanish. No French, which I think disappoints many people who come here.

Are you from Oahu? I am.
