Help with this sentence

I need a bit of help with this:
Context - the main character recovered money from a thief (kid) and decided to let him go, but immediately the other people who were chasing the kid (羽狩り) captured him so the main character didn't have a chance to get away in time and he got spotted.
So now the kid is making stuff up to get the main character in trouble, by sucking up to 羽狩り.
「あの人、《不蝕金鎖》って組織の人で・・・・・・」
「突然お金を出せって言ってきたんですが、断ったら殴られたんです。」
「羽狩りのご機嫌を取るのが得と判断したのか、少年は虚実織り交ぜて事情を喋り始める。」
「自分がいかに哀れで、俺がどれだけ理不尽な存在であるか、少ない語彙を搾り出す。」

I'm interested in the last sentence. 自分 refers to the kid I guess, but I found いかに哀れで a bit confusing.
I'm guessing that both 自分がいかに哀れで and 俺がどれだけ理不尽な存在であるか are embedded questions or 1 question, but two things separated by で. The kid is basically stating 自分がいかに哀れで俺がどれだけ理不尽な存在であるか (how pitiful and how irrational) by doing 語彙を搾り出す (squeezing out a few words?). Or am I wrong about this?
I found an example with the same construct on alc - 子どもたちがいか...の英訳｜英辞郎 on the WEB：アルク
Can the first clause be written as 自分がいかに哀れであるか or would that would make 哀れであるか and
存在であるか into alternatives (marked by か)?

In your example, 自分 = kid and 俺 = the main character; the sentence is from the point of view of the main character.

「自分がいかに哀れで、俺がどれだけ理不尽な存在であるか、少ない語彙を搾り出す。」 can be rephrased something like 「自分がいかに哀れであるか、そして俺がどれだけ理不尽な存在であるかを、少ない語彙を絞り出しながら説明した/訴えた。」(or 訴えようと少ない語彙を絞り出した）

語彙 means vocabulary. 少ない語彙から搾り出す/絞り出して訴える makes more sense, maybe?

Yeah, it does, but I was referring to the sentence as a whole since I wasn't sure about the whole thing.
Edit: Does 少ない語彙 mean that the kid has a small vocabulary? And he squeezed out those sentences from it? The kid talked like a thug when talking to the main character, but now he switched to the polite stuff now that he's trying to suck up to other people, which is pretty funny

The (omitted) main verb is to explain/appeal. The kid explains/appeals how pitiful he is and how irrational the speaker is by squeezing words from his little vocabulary. His vocabulary is little, but his words can be many.
