Hi guys,
I have the following question from my textbook.
富士山のお土産に友だちが絵はがきを_________.うれしかったです。
You have the 4 choices.
あげました
やりました
くれました
もらいました
I think that it is in the first person, i.e. "I" received.
So it must be either くれました or もらいました。but I don't know which(the particles being used don't seem to help me) is に particle marking the gift from friend. In other words is describing the person as, the gift giving friend?
よろしくお願いします

富士山のお土産に友だちが絵はがきを_________.

The key is the blue part.

友だちがくれました
and
友だちがもらいました

would be very different.

The に serves the same function as "as" in "as a souvenir from Mt Fuji".

富士山のお土産に友だちが絵はがきを_________.

The key is the blue part.

友だちがくれました
and
友だちがもらいました

would be very different.

The に serves the same function as "as" in "as a souvenir from Mt Fuji".
As soon as you split it like that I realised it must be 友だちがくれました the friend gave me the gift.
If we were to just change it to 友だちに it would change the meaning completely.

Again, you would have a big difference:

友だちがもらいました
友だちにもらいました

Again, you would have a big difference:

友だちがもらいました
友だちにもらいました
I see your Point. You would have to be careful. You may have picked up some friends.
私は富士山のお土産に友だちに絵はがきをもらいました。うれしかったです
