Help, My Pussy Stinks!!!!

Actually, it's my patient's pussycat that stinks! It got sprayed by a skunk. Now I know they say tomato juice for a dog; but this cat won't even let you get a drop of water on it, let alone soak & scrub with red glop! Normally , Sending it to a groomer would be an option, but, here's a twist. My patient has no sense of smell or taste due to a head injury years back. He's not going to spend money on a problem that isn't a problem for him. Now I don't really want to take someone elses cat and pay to have him cleaned. Does anyone know how long it might take for the smell to wear off??? This is a big ol tom cat with sharp claws & teeth who happens to want to be in my lap if I sit down.How long will I have to wear a clothespin on my nose, anyone gotta a good guess?

Frank, it usually takes 7-10 days for the smell to go away. Hopefully you can hold out that long!

a few options:
Bathe it (using ringmail gloves and kendo helmet)
Shave your pussy
Let it outside for a few days
and keep it out

if it's a man cat, you have to give it the chop

otherwise, give it a bath (cats love that)

If the cat is being sketchy about water, try wrapping a tensor bandage (not too tight) around their "torso". If you don't have a tensor badage wrap a towel, clothor whatever will secure around their bellies. This confuses the cat's center of balance and they can't move. If you make them stand they'll just fall over on their side. It doesn't hurt them at all (just don't put it on tight).

Put the cat in shallow water (he'll be on his side remember) and bathe away. Might be a bit hard to getaround the bandage, but at least he won't fight you. He may hate you for a bit afterwards but don't take it personally. He'll realise that he smells better.
