Find a good program! Ok, here's the deal: I've got lots of video on VHS I'd like to edit on my computer. Do you know of any good programs to do this with? I remember when Uncle Frank asked about GIF programs somebody recommended GIMP and that worked out well. So, if you've got any ideas or suggestions, throw em' at me!

I've got a ton of short videos I've taken here in Japan but I'm not sure what the best way to go about sharing them is. Any thoughts?

Well, i'm not sure because i've never really used it, but i think there is something like windows movie maker which comes in with windows ME and XP if i'm not mistaken, you mite want to take a look at it, you can do many things, put soundtracks edit, etc etc

For the first question I hear Adobe After Effects is good. Ofcourse it's really advanced... then you've got the one duo mentioned (which also comes with XP) Windows Movie Maker. seems like a nice alternative.

About sharing the short movies, we can always host them on yeahjapan

You Might Check....

a company called ULEAD. I bought their Gif Animator 5 program for $50 and it does more then I will ever use. I know they have several video programs that would be worth checking out.

well...it depends on what you mean by "editing a vhs video on computer".
A certain Radeon card allows you to record a VHS on your computer since it has a Peritel SCART Connector plus the needed software bundled.
As for editing the video (copy, paste, cut, delete, subbing, etc) once it is on your computer I'd recommend virtualdub available here:
www.virtualdub.org
I find it quite easy to use and there are enough tutorials to understand how it works.

I use a Hollywood DV analog to digital converter, and then edit on Premier or iMovie.
