Hi.
My name's James, as you can see already, and I've just found JRef. I'm 30, I'm Australian but have been married (to an American) and living in the US since 2004, and I have had since childhood a deep and abiding love of Japan and Japanese culture (and yet I barely know half a dozen words in Japanese and can't read anything in it at all!).

Recently I've been reading more and more about how non-Japanese interact with Japanese culture in Japan (master sake brewer Philip Harper and author Will Ferguson come to mind) and I find it very interesting and deeply hope to one day experience it for myself.

So, really, that's it. I'm glad I found a place where I can indulge in my curiosity about Japan and Japanese culture, and just generally 'talk shop' about the wonderful country we love.

Hello and welcome, James Knevitt. Welcome to Jref Forum. I also would like to learn Japanese culture and I wish to one day finally visit Japan, but sadly I'm still too young and not financially stable enough to atempt it. I believe I still have a LONG way to go before I'm ready. But enough jabber-jawing, once again, welcome to Jref!
