Greetings from Ohio

Hello, all! 32 year old white male originally from Wisconsin and currently living in Ohio. Ive had an interest in Japan since I was about 12 years old. Ive always found the culture facinating and had a lot of respect for it. Im a self-taught Japanese speaker, although Im not sure that I would say Im fluent but I know enough to get by. Id actually love to learn more but havent found many classes in my area. All of what I know of Japanese is from language books, anime, Japanese movies and from Youtube.
As you can probably guess from my name, Im a golfer. More like Im obsessed with golf. I try to play and practice as much as I can and Im a pretty decent player. Right now Im about a 10 handicap. Im also obsessed with Japanese golf clubs, especially Mizunos.
For work, Im a production associate at one of the Honda plants here in Ohio where we build the Honda Accord and Acura TL. Its a great job and I love it! As someone whose always loved Japanese cars, its pretty much the perfect job for me.
I dont know if any of you used to post on the forum that was on Japan Today but back in those days I used to post under the name, "Captain Toyota".
Anyways, thats me in a nutshell. I look forward to many intersting conversations with you all!

Welcome! I lived in Ohio for a couple summers as my mother also worked at a Japanese company in the automobile industry (although they're not nearly as big as Honda!). I hope you enjoy your time here.

Welcome to the forum GG! I am new and probably setting a new record for speed to unpopularity.
I was born in Ohio and raised there and other places. But I am from the east side and I think you would be on the northwest?
I really miss the long days and long shadows in good old flat Ohio! I am wedged between mountains here in Japan, days are short and sunset comes early.
A word of warning if you like the outdoors. I never heard of chiggers until I went to the west side of Indiana. I thought they were a joke. They aren't. They are horrible! If they have them in Indiana I am sure they have them in Northeast Ohio. If you never heard of them, look them up. This post could save you weeks of horrible itching!

I grew up in central Indiana and always thought chiggers were a normal thing everywhere until this post.

Oh man! A few of us eastern Ohians had experience with them because they had been to that event in previous years. All us newbs who heard about chiggers were looking around for them, cause they were mentioned, but not clearly. We figured any bug that was going to cause us trouble MUST be about the size of a ladybug at least! Doh!

We had chiggers in Wisconsin too.
